Hi I don't post here often, so I apologize if there's already been a topic on this.

While playing Holic from DDR 4th mix (dled at DDR:UK) I was almost at the end of the song when something (I didn't look away from the arrows to see) popped up in the corner of my screen and made a "yoohoo" noise. I got 8 greats and the rest perfects on the song. I've been trying to repeat my preformance but my nerves are shot. I'm not even sure if what I saw was real. I'm not sure what version of Step Mania I was playing but it's an older version.

Has anyone seen anything like this in their game or am I crazy?

That was the infamous "toasty." Just go to options, there should be somewhere where you can turn off easter eggs. Turn that off and it'll go away. It only occurs when you have a mass amount of perfects/marvelous in a row.

It's called a toasty. When you get 250 perfects/marvs something will pop up on the bottom right hand corner to annoy you.

Well just say, that this thread will probably get locked, because there was a thread like this one not to long ago.

you can turn them off if you want, i believe it is under gameplay or machine options, it is easter eggs, or just plain eggs

A Pointless fact about toasties: Toastie in stepmania is a reference to the old Mortal Kombat games where when you absolutely owned someone with a fire related move, this little guy would come out and in a very high pitched voice he'd yell "TOOOASTY!". He was sort of the announcer of that game. StepMania was probably making a joke/retrospect to the old Mortal Kombat games.

THE END.

"TOASTY!"

it scared the poopy out of me and i flagged the f'n thing.

I think all future versions of SM should have extremely scary monster "toasty" characters. E15.gif

I'm sure you could replace the "Toasty" picture with something else that's very frightening, and then change the .wav file to be a scream or something. That could be a good prank happy.gif

I saw toasty for the first time last night - I was playing Dead End and about to PC the song when it slid out of the screen and said something to the tune of 'wussy'. Damn that freaked me out! For a little while I thought I had been eating too many mushrooms but now that I know that thing was actually there I'm packin my bags... E13.gif
