Perfects? I don't know about anybody else, but it distracts when you're playing and see GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GOOD GREAT GREAT GOOD GOOD.

Now what if you see PERFECT PERFECT GREAT PERFECT GOOD PERFECT PERFECT GREAT GREAT PERFECT, especially with timing windows how they are in IIDX?

Maybe if you're easily distracted, but I think I'll like knowing when I get Greats in the middle of a stream instead of sitting there wondering if that one note was a Just Great or a Great. Not that I dislike the JG/G system but it's probably not going to be a big deal unless you're the kind of guy who gets easily distracted.

As long as it still flashes it should be fine.

I really hope I can buy one of the US controllers cheap and have it be the same as a JP one. Or at least be extremely close and be able to play the JP beatmania....

All that aside, I really like the timing window i have now. I hope Konami has an option to make it "japanese like".

You DO realize that Cutriss was joking, right? erm.gif

Suffice it to say, we've never gotten a DDR release with "dumbed down" timing windows as compared to the Japanese counterparts yet. I doubt they'll start now with beatmania.

If they do dumb down the timing, please include an option in the config to set it to either easy timing or arcade timing.

I'm buying this mix for 5key songs and possibly the 7key(I have 7,8, and 9th style so its no biggie). Interface looks fine and there's gonna be no ranting by people about how the game is nothing like 9th style yadda yadda because it had the same interface.

I have faith theyll make a good first mix though. Sucks because I just got a JP controller too...oh well.

So you want one of the old sticky keyed, sucks unless you mod it controller instead of the the cooler looking, redesigned, fixed keys controllers?

Controllers are universal and work on all games.

So its confirmed that the US controllers will work with the JP IIDX's and visa versa? Because aren't they buttons for JP ps2 games mapped a little differently? I heard somewhere a while ago that X and O are switched, or something like that.

Well, even if they don't work on default settings, you can most likely use custom key configurations anyways.

No, what you probably heard is that Japanese games like to use O for confirm and X for cancel, which is counter to the typical US game stetup that uses X for confirm and then something else, like triangle for cancel. Japanese and US PS2 controlers of all types are interchangable.

Do we have any word on who's actually developing the game? I'm saying this because if we're getting some new songs, who's going to chart/keysound them? Hasn't Mr.T always been in charge of that?

KCEJ is.

Yeah, I think Mr. T does a lot of the notechart/keysounding, but there's other people who work on it too. Not exactly sure who, I keep thinking someone told me wac did some too but don't quote me on that.

Migitera Osamu used to do alot of the keysounding for the 5key series as well.

I think LED keysounds his own CS exclusive songs, but I'm not sure. And if we get any exclusive songs then KCEJ (or "the team", since they've merged) will probably want to do the keysounding themselves.

Not an expert, but im going to raise my questions and give my opinions and hope someone can confirm.

There are a few questions to be rasied about the controller. and someone has already asked one, but hasnt been able to get the words right yet:

Quote:
Are the Button mappings the same?

The likelyhood is good. If Konami is taking the time to improve their beatmania controller for us, then they will probably take the thing over to Japan for the next IIDX PS2 release (Should there be another one)

However, If they maintain compatiblity with the PS2 Japenese games, that means that you still have to play with the wrong 5 keys on the 5 key games except for Beatmania 6th+Core -_-
This problem *SHOULDNT* affect the new game because someone could actually program this right. I dont know why Konami didnt think about adding the 2 new buttons logicaly on the other side of the controller, that wouldve mainatined compatiblity (because 6th+core maps logicaly, and IIDX was designed to use the controler duh.) and make it possible to play the older games with the "correct" 5 keys (the ones closest to the scratch while the controler is in right side mode)

Quote:
What About reversal?

I dont know about you guys, but I play right side scratch. I really hope this controller is reverseable, otherwize im going to throw a poopy

Quote:
How much will this thing cost?

Id estimate that it will cost about 50 USD, because thats apparently how much the Imported controllers *SHOULD* cost without import fees according to people on Bemanistyle a whole long time ago when we were talking about this very game, before it was announced.

Why are people freaking out over whether the controller is reversible? Look at those screenshots again. Where do you see the scratch on the 2P side? There's your answer.

That doesn't tell anyone whether or not its reversable.

Oh really? Yeah, that makes perfect sense for Konami to set up the second player side so that the lane for the scratches is on the OPPOSITE side from where it physically appears on the controller. That wouldn't be confusing in the least. While they're at it, how about they reverse the key mappings for player two as well, so that they have to press key 7 to hit the notes in lane 1? Honestly, you're being Chicken Little about the whole thing. But my guess is you've never seen the Japanese controller, let alone own one? Take a look AGAIN at the diagram in the screenshots. See how the keys are boxed off in a smaller rectangle apart from the larger rectangle which makes up the rest of the controler, and in which the turntable resides? That is EXACTLY how the Japanese controller is setup and displayed in diagram form for all of their releases. The keys are in a seperate smaller unit that plugs into the controller base. You take that out, turn it around 180 degrees and slide it back in. Voila. Controller reversed. That is exactly how the US controller will work. In fact, the only difference between that ingame controller graphic and one in any available Japanese IIDX style is the fact that the turntable corners are rounded off in the US one, a feature we now know about thanks to the Jason Enos interview. This new style controller will most likely be the new standard for Japan as well. Why would they screw up something like the reversibility of the controller now?

lol laugh.gif

You take stuff WAY too serious. I simply made the point that you can't make any confirmation til you actually have the controller, or you hear someone like Enos say it is. I mean why would they ruin DDR Extreme USA by not allowing you to turn off the shape buttons.

BTW don't talk down to me like I don't know a thing about Bemani. See what happens when you assume.

I respectfully suggest you remove that image, now. That was not called for. You could have easily proved your point without resorting to name-calling.

I don't understand why you needed 4th Style, the controller box, or even the picture at all to say that, Lar.

And you shouldn't have said it at all. E15.gif
