While some of Konami's holiday season releases have received a bump up in release dates, unfortunately for the Bemani crowd, Beatmania has been pushed back until 2006 for release.
Thanks to jas for the link! _________________

I find it weird that Gamestop is reporting such, as the only people that had a 2005 release date for Beatmania were the retailers. Konami has been saying '06 ever since the game was announced. _________________

Also, take a look at some of the new screens found at IGN: VERY different look than at E3, and I definitely approve, as well as a couple more song confirmations:
Hitchhiker
M.02stp.ver.01
g.m.d.
Battle Breaks
s.d.z.
you gotta groove

I wouldn't say "confirmations" just yet, of course.
OMG ITS TO THE X MODE. Not.
Now we can finally put that shit to rest. _________________

We're getting the Happy Sky method of song ratings and Difficulty labeling.
Notice in the 5-Key song list screen that difficulty is measured out of TEN STARS.
And in the 7-Key song list screen, difficulty is labeled Beginner, Normal, and Hyper.
Am I the only one that's surprised by this? _________________

Actually, that was the entire IIDX Mode Menu.
Light7 (Normal) - Beginner
7Keys (Hyper) - Normal
Another - Hyper
It doesn't even come close to HAPPY SKY ratings if you ask me. HAPPY SKY has 12 levels of difficulty (and I mean Level, not Stars). _________________

Has a bundle or anything been announced so we can get the controller as well as the game? _________________

Eh, it's more recognizeable along with DDR. Konami realizes that a lot of people who play DDR here are going to pick up Beatmania because it's more BEMANI for their collection.
And since most of the people who are going to play it are probably going to be newbies, I'm sure they figured it'd be easier to have PERFECT! there instead of a Flashing Great.
And for anyone who was too slow to understand what Cutriss (I can't spell) meant in his post:
The IIDX part highlighted for convience. _________________

Honestly, I think you're wrong about that.
I'm pretty sure it's just that "Another" isn't shown. Either it's unlockable or wasn't included in that build.
Beginner = Beginner
Normal = Light 7
Hyper = 7Key
Another = Another
I doubt Konami would change that. _________________

Am I the only one who noticed that the keys on the upper row are represented with thinner columns on the game screen? |

Looks like the Veriphone FX "knob" is still in the game. People were crying over the fact that it simply said "beatmania" in the E3 9th style-based build of the game, expecting that the option was out when they should have realized that the "beatmania" was replacing the "ver. 09" there in 9th style CS that stood for no FX options turned on, but now that spot is very clearly marked VEFX.
Also, I wouldn't freak about about the lack of ANOTHER in the difficulty list. It's obviously a mock-up. Look more closely at the stats for "The Shigning Polaris." If the playcount of 573 isn't a giveaway, the EX score should be. The best grade is listed as AAA while the best score is listed as 573. That EX score would NOT get you a AAA for The Shinging Polaris on Hyper (7Keys), it would get you a D. You need to score at least 1186 on The Shinging Polaris to get a AAA on Hyper.
Also, the new revamped interface looks cool, but I hope they don't stick with purple. It's too dark. I prefer the cooler and brighter look of blues from 6th and 9th styles. _________________

Didn't we already know that beatmania for the US was released for 2006 already? I'm not saying we should lock this board, though. |

I *really*, *Really* hope there is support for the 2P side with the right hand turntable. Im glad they decided to have "IIDX" listed as a mode. _________________

I agree with you, however, the E3 build was VERY messed up in terms of ratings, and that may well carry over, to boost egos.
I got a AAA on Shining Polaris light7 (or beginner, whatever difficulty was featured) at E3, and, although I don't remember my score, the % of EX score I got CANNOT have been over 80%, and I really don't think it was 70%. It was a little weird, to say the least. |

I'm wondering if the US controller might look at least a little bit different than the JP one. Notice in the top of those screenshots where the Cancel and Confirm buttons are called out. The controller is shown in a very detailed layout, but the turntable side has been completely rounded off, where the JP controller is rectangular all the way around. Think we're getting a streamlined unit? |

I doubt you'll have to worry about that. Take a look at the screenshots a little more closely. The turntable is definately on the right-hand side for the 2P column.
Also, as far as the possibility of ego-boosting inflated grades and inflated difficulty ratings, I wouldn't really worry about that just yet. I forget who it was now, but someone figured out that the low EX score AA's and AAA's were actually do to some calculation error in the grade after crunching a few numbers from playing in battle mode. The difficulty ratings at E3 were also rather meaningless, as they basically just numbered the available songs in order (i.e. 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) probably just to show off what different difficulty ratings look like. I'd expect this current build to be refined quite a bit before retail. Take notice of the row of stars indicating the difficulty rating. The left most star is flush with the word EASY, but the rightmost (10th) star is definitely not flush with the word HARD. By the time this is released, I'd expect that difficulty meter to include 12 stars (either that, or we won't get any song rated harder than 10 stars, or 11 stars [flashing 10 stars]). The ratings will probably be based upon the Happy Sky ratings system. I can't imagine Konami really going through the extra trouble of creating yet another rating scale for all their songs right after introducing a new one. _________________
