I think this may be my adaptor but..
The adaptor that came with my RO AB sometimes cuts out, as if it were discoed, although it wasn't. It would stop responding during play and give me a disconnected sound and reconnected sound. I'm not sure what it is. Maybe my computer.
Any help? _________________

its called statical electricity, and either add a resistor in it to the ground, but wont be that easy. or try to rewire a controlbox from another pad where that problem doesnt occur.
or play without shoes, or change the plates to wood |

I'm using the printer adapter (came with buynshop pad) and downloaded the ntpPad driver and the stupid thing wont work.
Every time I step on the pad, it enters game mode and quickly resets to the title page. Anyway to fix this. _________________

...and if u dont wanna pay 15bucks then.. do it yourself, made a tut http://www.mynetcologne.de/~nc-loerscma/XBox2USB.pdf so u only need an usb cable and a bit time to solder
works great. since that xbcd thing the only nonsync part are the not perfect bpm and offset adjusted song files |

Hello I'm new to the forums here, I have been reading a couple of threads and recently got into Stepmania. I can honestly say that I am hooked. I downloaded the program and figured out how to load songs and such. I have been playing it with a joypad, (NYKO Airflo for PC). I want to get a dance mat, so I went out today and purchase a mat. It is from Gamestop it is one of their brands. Looks like this:
Also I went to Radioshack and got a PSX to USB adapter, but needless to say that it didn't work when I had to ust the left and right buttons at the same time. Up, Down, Left, Right worked one at a time but not simultaneously so from reading I have to get one of these correct.
I guess any help would be greatful |

Hokay, any help here would be appreciated. I have a generic soft pad and a USB adapter that's listed in the compatible list (it even said on the packaging that its designed to work with DDR dance pad), but I'm getting the normal up+down/left+right won't work together problem.
(this is the adapter I have http://img377.imageshack.us/img377/8025/ps2usb5wf.jpg)
I've tried up+start+select but nothing happens. I mean, arrows work when I press them one at a time, and up+right/up+left/down+right/down+left work together, just not up+down/left+right, so it's not a problem with power or anything, it just won't switch to dance mode as far as I can tell. Any idea what the problem could be? |

Ok i got a small problem. I had purchased the Parallel Port adapter and I downloaded the NTPad driver, works like a champ when i play the game. The problem I have is when I exit out of SM and want to play a game of Halo with my NYKO AirFlo gamepad Halo will not start it will kick me back to the desktop.
I know it is the NTPad driver because I can uninstall it and Halo will run fine. The game recognizes both of the gamepads. Is there another driver out there for the Parallel Port other than the NTPad driver??? Any input will be helpful. |

hi!
i have a cobalt flux that's about 6 months old, and i had it hooked up to stepmania properly with directpad pro force feedback earlier this year.
it always had the problem that the select button (button 10) would always be depressed no matter what, and i couldn't map any buttons cuz it would always press "select" right away. but i avoided this by mapping the buttons with a dual shock, then playing the CBflux.
but recently, whenever i press up on my cobalt flux it also presses down and vice versa. it also presses the L3 and R3 buttons randomly too, even though those aren't mapped to anything and probably aren't the main cause of trouble. anyway, the result is that whenever i press a direction, the step zone arrow coreessponding rapidly presses itself.
the CBflux works fine on my PS2, in case it matters...
anyone ever experienced this problem before? |

Hey RocketDogg,
Sorry to hear you are having problems with the ps2 to USB adapters. I have used the "EMS USB2" (Lik-Sang link will follow) with great luck and works with dance pads out of the package with no need to put in a "dance mode" code. I have now given these to a number of friends for use on desktops, laptops with similar fantastic results. They fall into that "just seem to work" category. Here is the Lik-Sang link so you can take a look at one:
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?products_id=1697&likref=froogle2
Hope that helps a bit if you don't have luck getting your current adapter to work well.
Cheers,
Tom

Well I can just uninstall the driver for it everytime my son wants to play Halo, no big deal. The adapter I got works really well with my pad. I don't have to put in any codes or anyhting like that, I guess I can live with the bug, if that's what it is. Thx for your reply. |

I found a solution to one problem I was having, and since no one seems to be posting answers here, just questions, I figured I may as well post it, in case it works for anyone else.
I was having a problem with my RedOctane Metal Pad and the RedOctant version of the Super Dual Joy that I got with it, with my pad randomly going back to axis mode in the middle of songs constantly, to the point where I couldn't finish a single song. Details aren't really neccessary, suffice to say that after quite a bit of frustration and experimentation, I found that plugging my Dual Shock 2 controller into the other port on the SDJ seems to have fixed the problem. It still doesn't explain what was causing the problem in the first place, but it's a decent workaround. Hopefully it'll help some of you as well. |

If you sometimes play arcade and you have more greats than perfects, then think about delay. However, EMS USB2 is combatible to almost every pad, just the delay makes it impossible to train for arcade |

I recently purchased a Super Box 4 adapter, but I'm having some issues with it. According to the StepMania site, it's a compatible adaptor, but requires the use of the usual dance pad code ( Up + Start + Select). However, when I enter the code on my Red Octane pad, nothing happens... I've held it for three seconds, five, and so on, just trying to make sure I got it right. But every time I enter StepMania with the pad, the game still will not recognize multiple arrow presses.
Any further advice on this, or is my adaptor just defective? |
