hey acejay...thanks for the advice, but it was a no-go. all wires and cables are snug and secure, and ive got a sound card, not onboard, i just find it weird that i get sound in every other program ive got, including dwi..

If your sound card is more than 4 years old, I would say get a new one.

You can get a Sound Blaster Live! Card for rrrrrreeeealy cheap nowadays.

I have one thats 3 years old and it's working perfectly.


Also, if you're good with computer hardware, try taking the sound card out, and putting it in another computer. If that doesnt work, then get a new card.

I'm having a problem with SM playing a background movie at about double the usual rate. As in, I ripped the audio from a IIDX video (Beyond the Earth) and then put both into the simfile. I fixed the syncing for the music, but when I played the song in regular mode, the movie finished long before the steps did. I've tried fiddling with the 'rate' option in the editor, but as it seems to only be able to go in increments of 10, I'm not sure if I'm gonna be able to find an exact speed.

Also, my Abyss -The Heavens Remix- background video works fine, and I ripped the audio from it with the same program. Any assistance here would be welcome.

in the stepmania folder there is another folder titled songs. In this folder make a folder called "ddrextreme". in this new folder put the .zip or .rar file you downloaded and unzip to that folder. A folder will appear for each song. Now in stepmania *poof* there it is.

ok i have a question, whenever i try to start stepmania, the following error occurs. "the application failed to start because MSVCP71.dll was not found. re-installing the applictation may fix this problem" but of course re-installing doesnt work... any thoughts thx

you know, i have this problem. at first stepmania is running perfectly, but since, i think, i add new songs to it, in the middle of songs it would freeze up. anyone know how i can solve this

You're probably just accidentally hitting the "Windows" key; it's close to the arrows.

You have Solo singles turned on. To turn it off, from the title screen, go to Options and then Gameplay Options. It's the first one, turn it off.

Right, I have many questions .

1) I want to order my songs in a certain way when I enter the song selection wheel (IE, the order they are in on the Arcade version). This is not alphabetical. How does one achieve this without adding numbers before each song name? ( )

2) How do you get rid of the nonstop and oni courses which appear ingame but aren't text files in the SM Courses folder?

3) I want the same song in two or more different folders on the song wheel screen (E.g Max 300 in -Max-, EXTREME and Euromix 2). Is there a way of doing this without physically copying the files into each folder in the SM Song folders?

4) How do you create your own scoring system? (The 5th mix and Extreme scoring systems get boring after a while ;p)

5) Can you make the scores on Nonstop mode add up? (E.g. 5 songs. 4 are 9 footers the other is 10. Maximum score = ((9+9+9+9+10)*1000000. Not 10000000)
(These are theme questions, i'm not sure if I should ask here or in another thread)
6) On Euromix 2, you select the song difficulty after you select a song, how do you make a theme to do this?

7) Again, on EM2, you can select NonStop on the songwheel. Is this possible to do on SM?

well im back, dang. so ive got a dance pad that the comp recognizes, it recognizes multiple button presses, everything seems to be going swimingly, stepmania works perfectly in menus with it, everything sharp and prompt...then i start a song and my little trip to hell in a handbasket starts. sm only recognizes about a third of my steps, so as you can guess the game is unplayable. everything else is perfect except for during a song. if anyone can help i would be very thankful.
