I can't do this song at all. I figure those hold arrows are spins of some sort, but I can't seem to figure it out. I play at home (nearest ITG arcade is about 1.5 hours away) so I can't watch other people doing it. Any suggestions?

They are crossovers, you don't really spin arround, but it will make you crossover where your right foot is on the left arrow and your left foot is on the right arrow and vice versa. Just keepy trying it and try to not double step at all make yourself use the next foot and not the same foot twice in a row.

Turning to the side works for me, it just takes practice and some getting used to. They are a little daunting at first but once you learn how to turn they're not tough at all.

Exactly. DDR doesn't use these crossovers (and if they do, it's very rare and never used with freeze arrows).

ITG has a few other songs that include this kind of pattern (all Expert):
* Queen of Light - near the start
* Oasis - everywhere
* Bloodrush - at the start of the slowdown
* Summer Speed Mix - used twice as "breathers" between hard parts.

Good job Boochypa. You gave meaning to my parenthetical disclaimer.

I also gave a specific example that tortoise might be able to use to more easily adjust to such crossovers that can no longer be BSed by double stepping in ITG.

Sup Afronova.

ACTUALLY, those are different types of crossovers.

Anywhere in Afronova, does it make you put your left foot on right arrow and right on left and vice versa? no.

So, no 'Sup Afronova'

ACTUALLY they're not.

How about the two runs before the long jumping section that go LURLDRLURLDRLUR? Gasp! Left foot on right arrow and right foot on left arrow.

Not the same, there are no freezes there.

I can double step Afronova no problem. I can't do that in Disconnected Mobius.

Just because there are no holds there to force you to do it the right way doesn't mean it's a different pattern.

Heh, I was going to post exactly that until I thought about it a little more. The two kinds of crossovers are indeed the same.

Still, they are almost nonexistant in DDR.

It is sometimes possible to doublestep the freeze-abled versions in ITG, but unless your really good at it, you'll probably end up with some Bad's.

True, because whoever wrote the DDR stepcharts decided that instead of implementing creative crossovers, it would be the best idea ever to use patterns that aren't even possible to crossver and must be double stepped (sup Daikenkai/HVAM/EotC). Because, you know, nothing is more fun than double stepping. Oh wait.

I agree with you on that. Doublestepping does not make the game more fun.

I use the Afronova-style crossovers all the time when I make edits. I also try to include PSMO-type (HotN Hard-type) crossovers quite a bit as well.

Ahhhhh... in Afronova I never bothered to learn that pattern and just double stepped the hell out of it. It was so rare in DDR. Leave it to ITG to force you to learn it properly. I'm starting to love this game E1.gif Thanks guys, I'll give this a shot next time I play.
