I have been playing DDR for a little over 6 months, and while at the arcade, I got some of the strangest responses from boys who like playing DDR, like a couple wanted to ask me out, lol, well I was just wondering if any of you have had similar responses to your abilities on the machine

Heh, most of the "regulars" at the arcades I frequent (myself included) are shy, and would keep to themselves should a girl even walk into the general vicinity. If aforementioned girl hadn't encountered this before, she might wonder why 6 or 7 guys are just mostly standing around in silence, waiting for their turn on arrow-smash or a driving game. If she wanted to play an arrow-smash against someone, she *might* get one of the few guys with a girlfriend to play, but those who are single, well, we'd probably find a generic shooter and congregate around that until she got off the machine/left. Sometimes we go outside and spray bug repellant at the gnat swarms (we stand upwind, don't worry). I imagine for the most part, arcade guys are like potentially dangerous woodland critters--we're more afraid of you than you are of us, ladies.

I'm an arcade boy.

I usually play by myself, though. I really don't talk much with other people at the arcade unless other regulars are around.

Tip - If you want to flirt with a guy at the arcade, don't start off with:

"Wow, you're pretty good."

Find a better opener. I know whenever anyone asks me this, regardless of how cute they are, I just pull out my bag of Stock Responses and go back to playing. I've never had an interesting conversation start that started with a complement on my DDR skills.

what's weird is that i never complemented a boy from an arcade.

mostly because of all of the girls surrounding him.

but arcade guys are SERIOUSLY SEXY.

all girls do not play like that, and whenever i play, i always play with the guys because the girls always think that the song is "too fast".

i like competition.
ans i like to bruise an ego. lol.

y hello thar...!

I was discussing with one of my friends about how I thought the DDR players in this area are stuck up/elitist because they didn't seem friendly. Then I realized something! Me being a ->woman<- and them being possibly socially challenged individuals may make them unable to assert themselves to make conversation. I decided that it would be good to use my social skills instead of generalizing an entire area based on a bunch of bashful boys.

The moral of the story is: everybody should try saying hi. What's the worst that could happen?

I'm a guy,and I was standing behin the machine while soome girl was playing. When she was done, I said hi, then she punched me and said I messed her up.

The moral of the story is everybody should try saying hi, unless the other person is a crazy violent beast. laugh.gif

arcade guy here, no girls have asked me out whatsoever. I know only like one or two girls that play the in the same difficulty that i'm on (level 10+ heavy), but theyve got bf's so why bother. I do have a few female friends that play that i've been teaching for a while now and they've gotten a little better. but yea, it's not that easy to convince me that im good at this silly game when people say that i am, when i've had my butt kicked at several tournaments.

Here's the deal. Most DDR players are sweaty postpubesent boys. Girls in the arcade playing the same games they are, is a turn-on. Two people of the opposite sex partaking in the same event is bound to have sparks fly. Either equally or unequally.

well those are the exact words some random "arcade boy" said as his opening line...... and now its 3 and a half years later, and we've been together ever since.

DDR helps out with lots of things, even loooveee love.gif

I gaurantee if he would have said something like "I don't see many girls AA'ing Neo-Survivor Max" you two would have been together for at least 5 years by now ^^

It used to be awkward when I would come into the arcade for my daily dose of DDR, but now that I have become a regular most of the guys are my friends and treat me as though I was just one of them. E7.gif

The reason why the girls are generalized in the other threads as being hot is because they're rare. "Oh my God! A girl! In the arcade! What the fuck?"

If you walk into a random arcade you can expect to find alot of teenage boys wearing black, being antisocial and smelling funny.

I mean OMGZ ARCADE BOYZ ARE SOOOO HAWT

Most regular guys that play where I do are too caught up in feverishly recording their scores on a piece of paper, studying step charts and not taking their eyes off the game no matter who in their group is playing. I think they sometimes wish the machine had a uterus and a chest so it would be the best of both worlds for them. E15.gif

There are some guys that regular where I play that are pretty friendly and like to chat when we're waiting to play. Not many girls play where I do (and play pretty well if I humbly say so), so I guess I'm an annomaly or something. They're pretty encouraging, with applauding when I do something well or improve something and giving me tips to get better. It's nice to be encouraged. biggrin.gif

For the record, some people aren't antisocial, just shy. Like me. When girls come hang around when I'm DDRing, I get all nervous and stuff. And I definatly play songs no one elsed does at our arcade for whatever reason. Then when my game is over, I just wait for my turn again, or go get my Silent Scope/Time Crisis/Initial D/ect fix. That doens't mean I'm antisocial. I'm like this around all people I don't know, which is a reason why I didn't like my job - thank existance that my last day is tomorrow.

The moral here is that some people can't say Hi, you have to say Hi to them.
