| just wondering if i could use DWI files on SM? due to the fast that i can get songs like A and R3 in dwi without having to look like crazy |

I believe. Some of my files are DWI and they work on SM....
Just test it out.

Yes. You can. I think you HAVE to have DWI's too. At LEAST them.

No... Stepmania can use either .dwi stepfiles or .sm stepfiles. Many simfiles will include both a .dwi and an .sm, but if there's one of each in a directory, Stepmania will ignore the .dwi and use only the .sm.
About 90% of the simfiles you'll find out there are in DWI format (usually the only ones that aren't are those that require advanced SM-only features), and about 90% of people use Stepmania rather than Dance With Intensity, so of course Stepmania supports DWI files...
