Soo....my mom is FINALLY getting rid of her old PC, which means its mine for the taking. So it's a very pathetic machine, but good enough to become a stepmania PC I think.
Specs:
600Mhz Pentium III
192 MB of RAM
Integrated Video and Sound (Motherboard)
I hate this thing LOL, but I'm going to make at an SM machine.
Soo.....I need a video card for it because it has no TV out. Unfourtunatly I only have the choice of PCI video cards. Also, would it be a good idea to get a USB 2.0 card for it, or is USB 1.0 enough to communicate pad steps perfectly?

Most adapters are USB 1.0, so you don't need a 2.0 card.
Not really sure about a PCI video card with TV out, maybe check Newegg. Why do you need TV out anyway? Why not just use a monitor? _________________

This PC is solely for SM, I'm going to use it like a console. Think about it: 15" viewing area vs. 32" viewing area. Screw monitor, they're way too small. I did find a video card with a PCI interface and S-Video Out. Should I go for 64 or 128MB? I have a 64 in my PC right now and it works with SM just fine so I think that's what I might shoot for.
Also...are there any video cards (for PCI) that I can like force resolutions onto my TV with? I mean 800x600 is what my video card forces me to have when its plugged into the TV and that is not pretty on a 32" TV. Is that just not possible? Do TV's just have a lot less pixels?

Tvs are 720x480 just so you know, so it would be best if you set it to 640x480 I think it will look better and it will use less power, meaning higher frame rate. |

Yea I dont know much about video in terms of TVs and such, but computers and tvs dont seem to mix
A PC hooked to a TV didnt look good for you, and when I had my PS2 hooked up to my monitor (a nice monitor mind you, 19 inch flatpanel with a 256mb video card) it looked pretty bad
You should go on tigerdirect or something and buy a cheap 17 inch lcd, theyre like 150 bucks, thats nothin |
