Just go into the Stepmania.ini file and find "USB Memory Cards" and change the 0 to 1 and save. Plug in your USB Flash Drive and start up SM. Play a few songs and exit and you'll have what you want inside of a "Stepmania" folder on your USB Drive. _________________

|
|
I just modified my Stepmania builds to mount USB cards tonight. Its a pretty standard procedure. Heres what goes down to operate your USB Mount
First, insert your USB Flashdrive/MemoryStick/Memory Card into a USB Port. Find out what drive letter your USB device is listed as. (examples: Normally, your Floppy Drive should be considered "A:\", and you Hard Drive letter should be "C:\". For all intents and purposes, let us say that the USB Flash Drive is drive letter "X:\")
Next, open up your "Stepmania.ini" file and find this section of text.
Code: | MemoryCardOsMountPointP1=
MemoryCardOsMountPointP2=
MemoryCardProfileSubdir=StepMania
MemoryCardUsbBusP1=-1
MemoryCardUsbBusP2=-1
MemoryCardUsbLevelP1=-1
MemoryCardUsbLevelP2=-1
MemoryCardUsbPortP1=-1
MemoryCardUsbPortP2=-1
MemoryCards=0 |
Now, you need to modify the .ini file to read as so
Code: | MemoryCardOsMountPointP1= X:\ (X:\ being what drive letter your usb drive is)
MemoryCardOsMountPointP2= (if you want to rig a 2P drive mount, youll need another memory card. Follow the same directions for a 2P mount as you did on a 1P mount)
MemoryCardProfileSubdir=StepMania (this will be the root folder where your editable.ini and stats.xml will go. Change it to anything you wish, StepmaniaDDR, StepmaniaITG, etc.)
MemoryCardUsbBusP1=-1
MemoryCardUsbBusP2=-1
MemoryCardUsbLevelP1=-1
MemoryCardUsbLevelP2=-1
MemoryCardUsbPortP1=-1
MemoryCardUsbPortP2=-1
MemoryCards=1 |
After you do this, save your Stepmania.ini file. Before starting up Stepmania, delete your local profiles in your Stepmania folder to ensure that the memory card works correctly.
Next, insert your memory card (if you removed it) into your USB port. Then, boot up Stepmania. If you did everything correctly, there should be a beeping sound when Stepmania goes to its title screen, and when you enter gameplay, a icon with a memory card and "1P" should be displayed while you select your songs, and where "INSERT CARD" is displayed, "NoName" should be displayed. Play a song (Freeplay or coin-op mode should be used. Then fail the song, its quicker). After you fail, your memory cards LED indicator should be flickering (if you have an LED indicator). The screen should go blank for a short time while your data is written to your card.
After this is all done, exit out of Stepmania and go to your USB Drive. Open up your root folder (default is "Stepmania") and go to "Editable.ini" and open it up. Inside the .ini file you should see this:
Code: | [Editable]
DisplayName=
LastUsedHighScoreName=
WeightPounds= |
Your display name may be up to 12 characters, your high score name may be up to 4 characters, and your weight can be put it if you want to measure how many calories you lose. Yep, its just like In The Groove, except it should work for all USB cards/sticks/storage media. (Im currently using a 8MB CompactFlash card in a USB reader)
So, there you go. Your Stepmania platform is now USB Mounted and you can store your data on a USB drive instead of on a local profile. If you guys encounter any problems, let me know, Ill try and help you guys out. _________________
