so i heard a rumor once that japan's new ddr games feature lasers that you move your hands through as you dance in order to trigger the hand motions...basically you block the lasers with your hands (i'm guessing there are 4 lasers like there are 4 step arrows) which makes you use your whole body to dance...or look even more like a freak. anyway i have no clue whether this rumor is backed or not, but if anybody has heard something about it, please post. also, feel free to post ideas about what future ddr arcade machines should be like...should we have 9 arrows...will they require slides...how do you think they can make it more like real dancing? anyway the point is that ddr will eventually evolve into something different...people will want more games that require they exercise and use their bodies to show off, burn calories, etc. there's only so long they can keep with the 4 button formula...as sad as it is, ppl that feel like they rock the ddr world will one day have to move on to something else...whether it be lasers coming from the platform or gigantic pink stuffed elephants dropping from the sky when you don't dance to perfection...i don't know. i just. don't. know. |

Regarding your laser thing, this game already exists. It's called Dance Freaks and I believe is made by Konami. _________________

1) The game you speak of is called Paraparaparadise.
2) We don't need "new DDR mix" speculation threads. Konami has made it official. DDR Arcade is over.
3) Real dancing? Go to a club. More arrows won't make DDR better. _________________

I Was Making A Joke. I Know the game is called ParaParaParadise or ParaParaDancing however he said it had hand things AND foot pads so i blended the best of both worlds and thought up "ParaParaDance Dance Revolution" a made up cross between the two games
Thanks

ehh? ddr arcade over you say? links please? shotgun for my head please?
anyway i already take swing dancing/ cultural dancing classes at my college...and obviously there's a distinct line between dancing games and real dancing. i mean ddr is more like drums for your feet honestly. i'm not suggesting that dance simulators will ever come very close to real dancing. i just think konami (or some other developer) could create a new dance-themed arcade game to propel the already popular concept forward. |

Its been over for a long time. DDR Extreme came out i 2002 (Christmas day), and they used to come out every 9 months or so. There are no more machines being made, as the fad died in japan. _________________

i seeeeee...and what of extreme 2? konami is only releasing home versions from now on? i mean japan may have treated ddr like a fad...but i wouldn't say that it's the same here...unless i'm just so into ddr that i can't see that it's basically just a fad here too or something... |

First off, if you want to talk arcade, do it in the arcade specific forum we have here.
Second, there's a game like that called 3DDX. It uses both foot sensors and hand motion sensors during play. A very rare game, so much so I've only heard of a machine somewhere in South America.
And third, there's no word on Komani making another arcade mix, so no need to spend time reviewing rumors you've heard to screw with anyone's perceptions.
