when i got my new control box, at first it was ok, but now i am getting disconnect errors again. they said it might be due to static buildup in the pad. whatever the reason, i am not happy |
No. They have not offered a full refund.
I did a test last night. I put a ps2->xbox adapter on and played that way. It ran with no disconnects!
They are still saying "static". But, I put the pad on a hardwood floor in the kitchen and there is no static in there?
I think they are full of lies.
Playing on a hardwood floor generates almost no static. So why the disconnects? And why does it work perfectly if I put a ps2->xbox adapter on and work that way?
If I wanted to use a ps2->xbox adapter, I would have bought a Cobalt Flux! |

Guys just send me 300.00 and I will build you a pad that you wont have any problems with. Beats the heck out of what you are having to put up with from all these other companies |

Let's see... considering that there are USB and xbox disconnects, and they're both using the same side of the cable... hmm...
I conclude that the ps2 side is perfect (whether it be the physical cable or the cbox itself), and that the other side is just ****ed up. I'm glad I'm using PS2. |

I just got my Afterburner about an hour ago and sure enough, I'm getting disconnects on my Xbox. It only disconnects for a split second but it still happens. Oh yeah, and there was also a huge, gaping hole in one of the corners of the box and part of the pad was exposed. Thankfully, it wasn't damaged (at least cosmetically).
I don't know why I bought this pad. I kept trying to convince myself that the problems people were having with it weren't that common and that they wouldn't happen to me.
Shoulda bought a Cobalt Flux. |

What's wrong with Red Octane? Really. If they had *ANY* kind of quality control there, they'd realize that these c-boxes are crap and would get them fixed ASAP. Yet they leave them they way they are and ship them out anyway. It's as if they don't even care about the situation and are hoping we don't notice anything.
These things were made in China. I'm guessing that they ordered a huge shipment of c-boxes from there and most of them arrived broken. Now they are stuck with a warehouse full of non-working c-boxes that they can't ship back. Instead of loosing money to replace them, I bet they are just shipping them out anyway saying that the problem has been resolved.
Why else would this be happening? |

Can you make me one? Seriously. I dig the Afterburner, but the c-box for it is complete garbage. I don't know anything about wiring and electronics, so I couldn't possibly make one myself.
EDIT: Hmmm, looks like I might not even need an new c-box. I just connected my Game Elements PS2 -> Xbox/GC controller adapter to my Afterburner while playing Ultramix for the hell of it. Played for about a half hour and had ZERO disconnects.
Maybe it's just detachable cable for the Xbox/USB connectors that's screwed up and not the c-box. If your Afterburner isn't working right on your Xbox, try using one of these Game Elements adapters or use the detachable plug from another Xbox controller to see if it works. |

Could you maybe save some time and posts and just put "I make my own pads" in your sig? Because really, we know. Because you keep saying it. |
Well I will from now on only if you put...My Afterburner Sux and I Have To Post About My poopy Control Box in yours...????
I just try and get accross to others that instead of buying all this highpriced junk out there ...to have some faith in thierselves and build one instead.
Now....I dont know if you know this or now...BUT...Im sooooooooooo glad I make my own pads!... |

Well, hopefully that's not the case or I have to shell 500+ dollars for a CF which I don't have, and the AB is already gonna cost me 400+ (this is all canadian with huge shipping costs in mind).
Hopefully they do ship to canada, because there's this place nearby that sells janky metal pads.
http://www.gameenhancer.net/Game-Enhancer.html
but anyway, the AB pad better be friggin worth it, cause I only have enough cash to shell out on one pad (well, maybe 2 of those janky pads, but considering I don't know about how long they'll actually last, I don't wanna risk it, despite the very mixed reviews on the AB pad) |

i bought a ps2 to xbox adaptor today because i hear that those work. I guess redoctane messed up the xbox/pc wires somehow? How could a company mess up something like this, and CONTINUE to ship defective products after knowing that they do not work. They said that the fixed the issue. Overall, I'm not happy and almost wish that i would've just shelled out the xtra cash to buy a cf and an adaptor. Now i have to sit around and wait until my adaptor comes in to even atemtp to use my pad. I was really eagerly awaiting this too. I actually setup the pad and plugged in two controllers(1 on heavy, 1 on begginer so i wouldn't autofail) and shadowed the heavy on my AB. I could've done that without spending the xtra cash on a big metal slab. I really hope this adaptor works..... |

I haven't read all 20 pages of this, nor have I read every topic in this forum.
I was just wondering if I were to purshace the RO AB, can I play without shoes? I know that the arrows are sunken in a little bit, so I was unsure if that is safe. Thanks. |

got my afterburner yesterday...everything works...mostly. i plugged it into my mac and it worked but occasionally it would freak out and stop working if i jumped too hard or something....but all i have to do when that happens is exit stepmania and go back in...not a big deal and it hasn't been disconnecting for a while now. ummm hmm the only thing i don't like about the pad...is that it's really hard to slide. i can slide on the arcade verison...anyway whatever. it's really nice. other than that, arcade is still the best cuz you can hang out with ppl there and show off and um...i like the clicking feel you get from the arcade panels...plus the lighting-up-ness...yep. shiny things are good. but ummm maybe i need better shoes for ddr...cuz mine have uber huge grip thingies...i should get some flat-soled ones...yeah...maybe |
