Please feel free to be brutally honest-
Is ITG better than DDR?
Is there the same type of high-octane japanses pop/techno junk on ITG?
Is ITG a good replacement for DDR until Konami makes a new mix??
I haven't tried it yet and I want people's honest opinions before I try-
Thanks _________________

1) Subjective matter. ITG has better, more difficult, and a greater propensity of said difficult charts. Lower difficulties are often bland and repetetive (especially below Hard).
2) Short answer, no. Now it's just American/Western techno/trance making up the majority of the song list.
3) Yes, I believe it is. I got it in June, and I'm still plenty busy with it. It will undoubtedly last me until Extreme 2 PS2, and probably after that.
Music quality is mostly a matter of opinion, but I find I like the DDR tracks more than the ITG songs. That said, I play more "meh" songs on ITG because they have at least an Expert stepchart. If it's difficulty you seek, ITG is good. If you like DDR music, you might be a little disappointed in the songs. Song-wise, you can obtain most ITG songs by *legal* downloads and streaming, so that can help inform your opinion of the song quality. _________________

I'd agree with basically everything that the person above me said. I'd also add that the ITG1 home version is quite amateurish. If you just want new songs, etc. it's quite entertaining, but it loads slowly, and there are a few ridiculous and obvious bugs, like Oasis' medium stepchart being a full beat off. However, it's no worse than some of the bugs that have popped up in US DDR mixes, like Candy <3 being given the stepchart from Candy *.
So... I'd say it's definitely worth a try, but by the same token, it's definitely not the best thing ever. I don't really expect them to have their act together with reliably good stepcharts and an actual visually interesting interface before ITG3 or ITG4. However, 70+ all-new songs on one game is definitely a plus, and marathon mode is fun. Lots of new content you haven't seen in DDR. _________________

It's a great substitute for DDR. Granted, DDR has the upper hand in the songs department (more, better songs), ITG takes dance gameplay to a whole new level. _________________

1) Yes. Think about it. If DDR were released after ITG, I doubt it would get a second glance.
2) Pretty much. They need to get a hold of some more artists though. They don't have the song diversity that ddr had, but then again, itg is only in its second mix.
3) Yes. DDR prepared us well for ITG. ITG, IMO, has the potential to be THE dancing game for us all. Unless Konami busts out something completely new, ITG will eventually replace it. |

So the Konami made games are "amateurish" as well?
I believe Konami DDR games have had many more bugs than ITG does. _________________

I think that ITG is better than DDR. I believe that ITG has more difficult steps and the steps are good quality, at least on the hard and expert difficulties. The novice, easy and medium step charts are often boring, repetitive and not that interesting. This same syndrome is also the case for doubles mode on any mode, if I recall correctly; however, I heard that Jonas, the new stepmaker, has created some new and better stepcharts for doubles that are more fun. If you've played StepMania or anything like that and have played the better quality stepfiles, ITG stepfiles should be similar if not the same. ITG has a lot of well known step makers on staff.
ITG has a variety of songs. You won't find any recognizable licenses here, which were practically the norm for DDR. To note there are rock-techno, tribal, drum n' bass, techno, trance and others as well, I believe. The majority of songs however, are trance or "dance". It's all American or European basically, which I suppose is a change from DDR's mostly Asian music.
I believe it's a good replacement if you're bored of DDR, which many people are. DDR has been out for quite some time with not that many innovations, which ITG brings to the table. However, it's really a coin toss. Some people may like ITG or hate it. I know my friends who are avid DDR players, have played ITG and think it's boring and slow compared to DDR. I think otherwise, but these are people playing on easy and medium, so I believe what they think is perfectly alright. Plus they don't use speed mods. O: _________________

1.) At the moment I enjoy ITG more than I ever did DDR. This is a very subjective question, so not everyone will agree that it's "better".
2.) ITG's song selection is very similar to that of pre-5th Mix DDR. DDR didn't haven't any j-pop at all until 5th Mix (Dive). Before that, the game was full of cheesy eurodance, like ITG is. DDR players will recognize artists Missing Heart, E-Rotic, Rikki & Daz (from Bus Stop), Bambee, Lynn (Papaya), Triple J, and Rochelle. In addition, there's some other songs with a very similar sound to music featured in DDR. Birdie sounds like a Smile.DK tune, for example. I'm glad that ITG is free of J-Pop actually, since I feel that music isn't one of the finer things that's come out of Japan. ITG's music is pretty well varied. Not so much as DDR's, but there's Trance, Bubblegum Pop, Hardcore, Rock, Latin, Folk, Ethnic, Disco, Classical Remixes, Hip Hop, ...something for everyone, really.
3.) Most definately. For most people, ITG is at least providing new material to hold them over until the next DDR mix. Speaking personally however, I don't think I could ever go back to playing *solely* DDR. Roxor is on the ball right now, and it's safe to assume that the series will only continue to greatly improve upon itself with future releases. |

1.its very fun and i would say i play it more than american DDR however im my honest opinion it fails when compaired to 3rd or 5th mix
2. nope its american techno juck +e-rotic
3.yea i would say that SOME of the hard charts are rally nice (da roots) and most all the expert are good too nothing below hard and some of the hards though might as well not even be on the disk as they are boring and quitefrankly hurt becaue of hte longer song length _________________

Agreeing with what everyone said, but I'm just chiming in to say that I disagree with this (widely held) opinion. I play those charts a lot in marathon courses and on fitness mode, and in my opinion the charts are mostly OK. Some seem boring but that's only because they're easy, I don't think they are the snoozefest everyone seems to think they are. |

Well i recently got to play ITG in the arcades and bought it for the Ps2 (wanted to before it possibly gets taken off the market)
In my honest opinion, for Songs i would give it to DDR for having a wider variety and better songs. For ITG the songs are aimed only at techno/trace players. If you hate either you will hate the songlist on ITG. However the steps for ITG songs dont even compare to DDR. ITG is far superior. The added challenge of Mines and even FORCING you to use your hands makes it even more fun. However i wouldnt use my hands on the arcade pads....they are too dirty _________________

There is TONS and TONS of information about both games on this site in general.
Try the home version. Rent it, or buy it and return it. Try it in the arcade, it (hopefully) won't cost more than $1 in that one location.
Form your own opinion, don't rely on everyone elses. Just give it a try. _________________
