While browsing around at MfgQuote today, I came upon a listing that had a photo of an Afterburner attached to it. That certainly piqued my curiosity, so I checked out the details.
The quote wrote: | Fabrication of dance pads. Please see picture for specifications. Specifications · Compatible with PlayStation / PlayStation 2 / Xbox/ and PC via USB · One piece, all metal pad · Pad comes fully assembled · 8 buttons: 4 directional buttons, X, O, Start, and Select · Non-slip cushion bottom · Dimensions: 34"x38 1/2"x1 1/4" Buyer wants this pad made of rubber. Not that thick but the width and length have to be like the metal pad. Something that can fold or curl up like a poster. Buyer is looking for 30 pads to be made. If they are good quality, buyer will order more then 30. Buyer would be looking at 150 to 200 pads total. |
Since you have to be a member to see the actual listing, I have a screenshot of the listing here.
Looks like RO is going to be prototyping flat soft pads that are made of more durable rubber rather than relying on the usual foam/plastic sheet concoctions. I guess it would be akin to the roll-up keyboards you can get these days. _________________

Very interesting. Every once in a while, the thought crosses my mind to start my own business of making dance pads, and if I were to do so, it'd be made of rubber or something a bit more durable than what you can get now. Besides that, I heard that the new DDR game Konami is making that's meant for health clubs is going to feature pads made of rubber as well. Maybe RO, or whoever this buyer is, knows we might want to get our hands on such a pad and is going to offer something similar. |

that seems to me like this rubber pad is ingenious.
no more cracking no more slipping, hell, I WILL MAKE rubber pads.
but seriously, CF should make a rubber pad that would sell for fifty |
