That's not entirely true. Look at bag. |
Well i meant that it couldn't be an average speed like 150. _________________

bag=65 BPM with 1/32 notes (albeit not stream)
=130 with 1/16
=260 with 1/8 (just short of PS)
MAX 300=300 BPM with 1/8 notes
=150 with 1/16

I don't see why it couldn't be ~150. Tribal Style Expert is 140 with a propensity of 1/16 notes (280 1/8s, so right between PS and PSM). Craft a song of that speed, give it many 1/16 notes, maybe a long run at the end, and you have a 10. _________________

It should be 600 bpm with pure 1/16 note streams for at least 10 minutes.
Okay, back in the real world...they've already made speed/endurace songs (MAX songs...maybe Paranoias, I dunno, I only have the home versions >.<) and a really, REALLY freakishly slow one (Hmm, what could I be talking about? ^^), so why not make a song based on sightreading, instead? It could be around 200 bpm, with a crapload of streams, gallops....everything, really. Every technique known to DDR-dom, scrunched into one song based on testing, not your endurance, not your reading of rrrreeeeeaaaaallllllyyyyy ssssslllllooooowwwww aaaaarrrrrrooooowwwwwsssss (aka memory), but your ability to read the arrows as they come at you. Then, in the middle, there could be a slow down (like in LoM, except twice as long) and, like, a trance echoing piano solo of justice that the steps follow exactly, followed by a speed up to 150 with a ton of holds and cool spins and crap with those. The genre would be, like, trance techno or something (Is that even a real genre? O_o), and it would sound really cool.
Of course, anybody could memorize this, right? Just get a stepchart? I mean, it's not like it'd require massive amounts of stamina or memory or anything. Well, here's the trick. I dunno if it could be done, but if it could be, it would be awesome. It would automatically have shuffle turned on, with at least 20 different randomly chosen stepcharts to chose from. That way, it would truly rely on the reader's reflexes and reading capacity instead of what basically boils down to memory and stamina. Sure, it'd require more stamina than most other songs, but not nearly as much as the uberfast streams on MAX300 or anything.
So, there's my two cents. It would be something radically new to DDR (I think), and it would probably keep people from getting anything higher than an A on it for a while, and even then only after they're familiar with the patterns of techniques, if not the steps themselves. _________________

If you want to test someone's ability to read densely packed arrows, you want the song to be VerTex-esque, in that it discourages people from using speed mods. The highest I can have VerTex on is 1.5x, b/c of the 612 BPM part. Even if it were ~330 BPM, people could still read it on 2x. You'd need to have a ridiculous slowdown (maybe 40?) packed with 1/64 notes (e.g. Euphoria or Bloodrush <--I think; I'm not sure about BR) to render 2x mostly useless. I agree with you in the general sense of having a technique-driven 10, instead of crazy flailing speed. _________________

i think they should make it only doubles and let them make something totally new which incorporates the most impossible step combinations, and a long song size.
im thinking maybe 3 minutes, with a 45 second death run on one panel at like pandemoniums spped, then some technique and crossovers (i said double) with all that stuff for 1min 15 seconds, and then for the last minute a techinuqe death run with crossovers. the point of that would be to challenge both stamina and technique to the godly end, starting the song, with stamina, in the middle having technique, and at thend having both.
But only if thats thyre last ten. Konami is a legendary company and i dont want it to make its big boom right yet. i wqant it to keep doing what its doing, having original songs with very original stepcharts. if konami ever stoops to the level of using popular songs with no step value, then i will say goodbye forever to them. But i truly hope they thrive, do not try to do new things, because they did it first, and i hope they will be the last. _________________

i think there shud b another MAX faster than The legend of MAX. around 350 bpm, lots of 1/4 beats and possibly some 1/8 beats. it should sound like the maxs and the PARANOiAs mixed. |

Except for the speed, you just described MAX. (period). Let's say you made a 350 BPM song--to be full of 1/4 notes, it better be 1/4 *jumps*, because a lot of 1/4 notes and a few 1/8 notes at high speed is TLoM Trick (9-foot). _________________

Here's my plan.
-4 BPM
-Introducing 1/1024th notes.
-
Fill in the blank.
WAIT THERES MORE LOLK
once the first arrow hits, it suddenly jumps to 8 bpm. and 1/512 notes.
Then after about 25 arrows, 16 BPM and 1/256th notes. After 30 or so arrows, 32 BPM and 1/128th notes. Then 64 and 1/64, 128 and 1/32, 256 and 1/16, 512 and 1/8.

Of course, everyone failed to guess that the next ten-footer has to be MAX DON'T HAVE SEX WITH YOUR EX (GRANDALE MIX) by E-Rotic.
The video would have to be some porn of course, but teasing until the final steps kick in... if you get there. Because DDR is an arcade game, it is in need of crazy and BS stepcharts, so in order for the actual fun part of the porn to kick in, you'd have to make it through the tons of streams and freezes in the song (and OFFSYNC FOR THAT MATTER) so that no 9-year-olds could get to the offending content.
Of course, this song was a hidden ten-footer on DDR Extreme but was removed "Hot Coffee-style" and since Jack Thompson is about to start whining to his little Ms. Vance about "Little doggy" on 1st Mix, they decided not to let it be public.

A song that's got combination Gallops-Spins-Crossovers-Endless Streams at 4,000 BPM and lasts ten minutes long. [/sarcasm]
Really though, you could try doing a total sight-read test, or just what constitutes a current ten-foot song at an extended length. Really, it's probably all been done by now. I suppose the only way to really throw people off would be to mess with the BPM or song itself. _________________

Well, Sakura is mostly quarter notes at 300 BPM, and Bag is 65 bpm. Neither of those songs is that difficult, but combine them into a new 10 and get.....QUARTER NOTES AT 65 BPM! BWAAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!!
Seriously though, it should be around 230-240 BPM (not much stuff in DDR around that speed that I know of), and it should have steps that contain streams, gallops, drills, crossovers, etc., and maybe one part where the BPM gradually and continually goes back and forth
[Edit] Wow, my post is really similar to the previous one...

They should make a song that's actually difficult that goes with the music. Too bad that'll never happen. |

I have the GREATEST idea!!
Simply change Cartoon Heroes to a 10 from 9. Voila, a new 10 foot! Not only that but it's only 170bpm, without 16th notes! Gotta love how DDR can acually make things difficulty without pure speed (cough cough ITG).
Honestly though, something similar to Cartoon Heroes, but a bit faster.
The last thing I want is something that's just pure speed. ITG has more than enough of those, and they are far too easy to PA when that's the only thing difficult about them. I thought LOM, MaxX and Sakura were brilliant 10 foot charts, as well as pretty much every other stepchart in DDR Extreme acually, there are only a few I don't like.
QoL & Romeo and Juliet = godly though |
