Yea.... The lady on the radio made the game sound really stupid. She didn't say anything about doubles play. It doesn't matter though. There is no possible way for her to capture all of info in one news report, and none of the listeners would even try to follow what is being said. I guess simplifying the info is the only way to get people to hear it. You can't make everything idiot proof huh? Heh heh... |

"No one has beaten DDR"
Define beating DDR
Radio is not a good tool for exlplaining DDR. TV works much better. _________________

Somehow I'm not surprised it's NPR that's talking about DDR. In addition to any similarity of acronym, I've always loved NPR because they're really obsesrvant, and tend to catch things other news stations catch later or not at all...still, I agree, a TV segment would be better. Although they'd probably try to get the reporter to play, and then all the viewers at home would laugh--unless (s)he really knew what (s)he was doing, playing DDR would just make hir look spastic. _________________

Exactly, If you can AAA legend road without reading the arrows at all (I.E. put a towel over top the arrows) then i think you've beaten DDR, otherwise.... it isn't possible (In my opinion at least... maybe Yasu could do that, i dunno) _________________

Beating DDR would require a metal pole or bat... or just getting sick of the game and moving on... once you've completed what you like on it then yeah, you've beaten it! Because your not going to play songs you hate. |

Why on earth would you post that in this thread, which is about NPR's segment on DDR? _________________

How cute: the guy mentioned this website...
And as for the reporter not describing the game very well, it's a bit of a hard concept to grasp if you get into the details (doubles, challenge steps, etc.); so I think it was just a confused reporter trying to tell everyone that DDR is awesome and to shower Konami with money. |

Then make that twice before, as DDR was mentioned in a Tavis Smiley segment. |
Well I like some of NPR's programs and was TEMPTED to launch into a spiel about Tavis but...
Well Tavis decided to leave them because NPR is too stupid to know what to do with an intelligent Black person on their network. NPR bills mainly to the Upper to Middle class white person that is usually older, plain and simple. Case in point Tavis's show was picking up viewers in minorities and younger people and NPR didn't run with it(I didn't even HEAR Tavis's show until I went down to Texas on a trip because my local NPR station didn't air it X-( ). Because of that Tavis left but still has a show on PBS and PRI. |

I don't see what's so hard about explaining DDR.

Yo guys. Yep, I'm a newbie, and it's my first post. WHOO!
Anyways, NPR is dead right about DDR on this one. I was first introduced to this game when I went to college at RPI. I got hooked on it, and was the main reason for going through Freshman -20. I started college at about 330, and last time I checked (a couple weeks ago), was down to about 300. In about a year, I'm able to do most 7 and 8 step songs, along with a few 9-step ones (R&P, Tsugaru, MSL, etc.). But, many of my buddies agree, it's a fun way to knock off a few pounds, and some of the professors at college even want to do a study on it. |
