Started at an arcade, then got the home version two days later. Still play at the arcade whenever I can.

I started at a game demo at Frys and got so addicted. I bought it for home and showed off ay Frys to get some crowds and stuff. Then I hit the arcade and became a total loser because there were so many better then me.

Ahh yes three years ago. . . . .
Good times. . . . .

I saw some guys at the arcade playin' it one day, and they got a huge crowd around them. I thought to myself, man, I want to be the guy who brings in everybody to watch him. I was too afraid to play in the arcade, so I got my rents to buy me the home version. Played like.... 3 or 4 hrs a day (not at one time, anybody who does it strait is a complete idiot in my mind). First 2 weeks, ripped my pad, first month, got the ignition v2.0 with the foam inserts, and i broke those in about... 3 months. At that point I wasn't willing to spend any more money on home stuff, so i switched to arcade. I enjoy the arcade a lot more. Just a better feeling with all the ppl and the metal platforms.

I started at home when I got UM2 for XMas, then I got to heavy and went to the arcade for the first time. "I can do heavy at home, so I should be able to do heavy here, right?" NO! FAIL'D!

I saw the arcade thing, watched the demo and explaination, studied the concepts a gameplay, got Konamix, and started out on 4 foot songs. I studied before even touching DDR. It's kind of weird, but it worked. E4.gif

Home.

Technically..at an arcade.

But HATED it, because my friend was so much better, and people were laughing at me and stuff. Then I tried it at his house, and he helped me and taught me to 'step' (not sure if that's the technical term, it's just when you learn NOT to stay in the middle..you all know what I'm talking about) and I fell in love with it.

My first time was at an arcade in 2001 on a DDR USA machine somewhere in Canada, but I really got into it as a home player.

First mix I started on was the original DDR USA for PSX. It was fun hitting cata level there, where my only two choices were Dynamite Rave or Afronova. Geebus. laugh.gif

i was in seattle and tried it the first time there.
Bad choice for someone like me to start out on standard and never played before.

I wish i could redo that. erm.gif

Anyways, the first time i officially tried it was at home.
At least i finished lesson mode so i could actually know what im doing at the arcade.
It's harder at the arcade too. frown.gif

Note: 6th mix doesn't have beginner's mode.

Within a month i switched to standard and after another month i switched to heavy, but i could only do 6-7 footers.
