Nowadays, Vans skateboarding shoes. Very comfortable to wear as casual shoes (I got them for school - unfortunatly, can't wear them at work frown.gif), and all the padding helps take out a bit of the shock from jumps. They don't weigh much either. I'm still tempted to get some Chuck Taylor's to DDR in though - they are probably even lighter (at sacrifice for no padding).

dude, i have chuck taylors. definetly not ddr shoes.

theyre light, yes, but are too flexible on the bottom, making your steps seem less "solid".
and there's no cushioning on the bottoms either, making your feet hurt after awhile.

stick to vans, man.

When I go to the Arcade I like to wear a pair of bright yellow rebok classics. Since they're low tops, I can easily do crossovers. If I'm at home, I enjoy sock play. E15.gif

I have a afterburner at home and it says on the pad "always play with shoes" but i'm afraid i'm gonna break it (180 lbs with heavy steps) so i play with slippers. I'm not going to cut my feet and I can easily do crossovers and whatever... Still trying to find the right feel at the arcade, B-Ball shoes are pretty clunky but until i find something else...

I was using my awesome PUMAs. They were tan, white, and orange, with black bottoms. The bottoms had almost no flat surface, and they were a harder rubber than most shoes, so they never had problem sticking or moving fast. I though Chuck Taylors would be good, but they have too many flat areas and are soft on the bottom, so they stuck a lot.

My PUMAs got too short though, and I started stubbing my big toe like a mofo, so now, I just bought some New Balance with absolutely zero flat areas on the bottom. It is textured so it doesn't stick, and they have a nice curve. I get to try them on machines this friday. E13.gif

Really, Chucks are good for freestyling/doing an easier session. Plus they are cheap (30 bucks, right?) and go well with a lot of outfits. You shouldn't use them for harder and faster songs, because they will stick to the pad more and yes, your feet WILL get raped.

Vans work really well, as do DCs, its all brand preference there.

Pinstripe Chucks. They work for me.

How would those shoes make playing heavy hard? They're extremely light and easy to move around in. Which is good for people like me who usually play at home with socks.

Maybe it's just the PIu pads, but the night I thought cons were a good idea, they stuck like a mofo. I couldn't move my feet across the pad as fast in them

Considering what Chuck Taylors are (canvas sewn to a rubber sole, with a rubber toe (I think the toe is rubber), and laces, $30 is a lil pricey. I've seen them for quite a bit more in other places - I'd rather pay $60 for those black-with-green-sole-edged DCs I fell in love with (oh, I got paid today, can afford them! Too bad I'm saving to build a Popn controller frown.gif) than Chucks. Unless they are Slipknot Chucks

I think that shoes really dont matter. Our home town hero BBH plays in these weird black Reboks or whateverthefuck and he is probably the best out of all of us with his fiddy four AAAs. I always wear FLAT SOULED skate shoes like my K7s or my Mike V. Etnies and I've got my 9 AAAs. But in all honesty shoes don't give you "better PA" like some people think. Play in shoes that are comfortable for you.
