1. so those raised metal pieces are the mod?
2. i was just wondering if it was possible to take the diagonal arrows off? |
1.) The metal pieces are the actual brackets that hold the mod up raised.
2.) You could disable the diagonal arrows by putting sheets of paper between the sensor and the actual arrow that you step on if you wish. How would you confirm using X or O then? |
im talking about for xbox, if i had an adapter. if i had the cf and the cbox...oohh now that im in the middle of typing this (lol) i am realizing what you mean...for xbox they would represent the b and a buttons, correct? _________________

Yes, assuming that your adapter maps them as that. _________________

I was hoping that I would be able to order one by July 6th, my birthday , since I only have an xbox, UM1, UM2, and all the song downloads _________________

For the Cobalt Flux mod kit, which brackets do you all prefer. I know the the type 2 brackets may look more stylish, but wouldn't the type 1 brackets be more sturdy because they cover 4 sides whilst the type 2 brackets only cover 2? Please elaborate . |

True, there are only 2 screws per bracket in the type 2 brackets. The brackets fit very snuggly over the lexan and are very sturdy. I really can't compare them to the sturdiness of the type 1 brackets, but I can tell you that after stomping on them for about a month now, they show no signs of warping, bending, or loosening. And I weigh 240 lbs... And I stomp my way through 7,8, and 9 footers. The brackets are held very well in place by the 2 screws, and the way they fit in with the raised panels. If I took a screwdriver and tried to pry them up, it would be very hard to do.
Type 2 may in fact be more sturdy, since they bend down over the raised lexan and hold it in place. If you removed all 3 other screws from the panel, and only had the one with the bracket in place, the panel probably would still not swivel much, since the bent down part of the bracket would hold it in place.
I hope this helps you out, it's not very technical, but my type 2 brackets are very sturdy. Type 1 may be slightly more sturdy, but its not worth it for the frumpy look. |

Ok cool, thanks for the reply, you've made up my mind. This doesn't really relate to the arcade mod, but there was a topic which explained how to set the Judging Difficulty for all of the games. I plan on buying most of the japanese import ddrs as well as all the american ones so I'd really appreciate it if someone could give me the link to the forum that explained how to set up the judging difficulties for them. Thank you! (All i remember is that Extreme should be +2 or something :S) |

Uh, it's not judging difficulty. It's timing offset. _________________

okay. This just seems so monotonous now. People ask to fix this converter problem and then we get started on something else. I just wanna know 'cause you guys say their coming out with another version of CF, but we all know it's not gonna happen, and when it does, it's gonna be out of date and there will be a version 4 follow up that blows away the competition. It's the way the gaming world works, hehe. But for now, I'm impatient and don't wanna wait that long. So those who have already bought converters and what not. Tell me what works. Don't just say buy a converter. TELL ME WHAT CONVERTER TO BUY! I heard the trio thingy works for PC, great! But what converter works for a CF to Xbox?
Thanks

my suggestion would be NOT to use an adapter, just rewire a bit and you do not need an adapter, that means getting rid of the biggest lag source.
dont want to write to much so here is how i played on CF:
risen bothe diagonal buttons with foam rubber. put coins between the normal 4 buttons to make the cf version2 as sensitive as version 1 (if u dont mod u feel the button but need to push it further down until it is activated, so it feels asif it has a delay).
just need the info about which wire is what button and u can easily connect a cf to a tx2000 controlbox, so u can have a xbox controlbox or even an usb controlbox for cf with NO lag.
used tx2000 controlbox because also if lower voltages come trough, it interprets button as pressed, maybe other controlboxes would also do teh job, but only had cf controlbox and tx2000 controlbox
ok, here is the rewiring to make an xbox controllerbox to an usb one, can read about it here: www.ddrlag.de.vu , the pdf document
and the last part , usb to pc ... stepmania
only prob about my modding until now, about 3-5 months playing intensive on cf
the coins are getting visible trough the buttons, but i wont remove them, too bad feeling without modding.
and btw. socks playing works, just if u r getting more and more tired u will slide a bit more and will cut some socks by the screws (heads are a bit sharp). but as long as u wear 2 pair of socks it wont be a problem.
actually in order to have a best sensitive pad, possible connection to ps, xbox and usb, and lowered buttons to feel where i stand (in order to train for the next tournament ^^) im on building an own pad, but seems to take 1-2 more months until i will be able to offer it or will give it up.
adapter, i may try out some adapters an use autosync to post the delays which each adapter has, or at least how much ms the adapters have more than the 'controlbox xbox 2 usb' version has, but feels sync now, slow and fast scrolling songs are no problem and scores just became better |

|
|
Hey,
I just got a new Cobalt Flux today and it's incredible! This is such an awesome pad. I just have two questions:
1. Do most of you guys play with shoes on? I used to use socks with a foam pad, and now use shoes with the CF. That won't damage the pad will it?
2. I noticed some of the screws are slightly bent at an angle. Attached is a picture of what I mean...
If you look at the far screw on the blue left arrow you can see how it is slightly bent up. I'm worried I did this with my shoes, but dont think that was the case. Does anyone else have screws like this? Also, should I leave it or just unscrew/screw it in to straighten it?
Thanks a lot for your help! |

I find it hard to believe that you can damage your Cobalt Flux by using shoes. They've run it over with SUVs, mopeds and cars and it hasn't been affected. -_-
Everyone I know plays with shoes on, as they say sometimes it'll hurt their feet or rip their socks if they place their feet incorrectly or on the screw or something. _________________

I can only play when I'm in shoes. Otherwise it hurts my feet or I slip around. Using shoes cannot hurt the pad... it feels more arcade when you play in the shoes, unless you take them off at the arcade. |
