Difference between ITG End Credits...

Forgive me if this is a repeat post but does anyone know what the gameplay requirements are to receive the ending that shows the pictures of the staff and test locations? Is this just done randomly by the game or do you have to play certain songs / receive certain scores?

You must have a game average of at least a S to be able to see that credits screen.

i think it goes like this

Get an average of S or above
or
get 2 or more *'s
or
get 1 or more **'s,***'s, ****'s

However, due to a bug, if you fail your last song, it doesn't count toward the average (it will only average the two songs you passed)

Are you sure? I'm almost positive I've gotten Ss or *s my first couple of songs, and then passed a 12 with a C and gotten the special ending. I could very well be remembering wrong, however.
