I think MTV deserves a chance at this, and only that, a chance. Knowing MTV, regardless of what the "product" may be (an artist, a cd, a tv show, ect...), MTV is capible of making total crap look good. On the other hand, sometimes they're able to pull something good out of their buttox (anyone seen clone high?). Either way, MTV will have the know-how to make this sell, no matter how good/bad it turns out.

what i personally think is there should be another game like Dancing Stage True Kiss Destination, that game a cool songs IMO.

Doesn't really matter anyways...if they make this and it sucks, it will just make a fairly ample amount of people look at it and say...wow MTV's version sucks...hey look at DDR...its just like it but...better drool.gif , and they will go to it

I no it will suck, but here is my theory.

Since MTV knowes that DDR was big, then they will try to over promote it so that they get a lot of money. When people buy the game, they will know it will suck but the idea of the game is fun (dancing) so they will go to DDR. DDR sales go up, and then Konami will make better versions of DDR in america. Better versions, more arcade practice. Then Konami gets rich and makes another arcade release.

That is the end of my story biggrin.gif .

Aight, so again here is how I look at it:

The way MTV works, is they take anything that will sell them the most money, and at everything I have seen in that direction, their method doesn't have much use for innovation. If something creates a large fan base, they take that and stack another half baked idea on top of idea just to defend themselves against pattents and their mindless ghouls second guessing them.

Some people think that what MTV has resorted to(bad television and skanky ways of owning a company) takes away from their power, I say hardly. Sure there are people with brains that will only shake there heads in disgust at MTV, but what I think they plan to do is turn the Arcade over and sick there millions of followers on us.

They have billions of dollars, they have the majority as slaves, and they can advertise way too well. They could make a game that is exactly like DDR (script and all) except in the tutorial instead of saying "This is a game where you move your feet!" it would say "This is a game where you dance while shoving a cucumber up your buttocks! " And it'd sell! and we would be the only ones to raise our eye brows. Meanwhile we would go to the arcade and a bunch of joacks would kick the crap out of us for not sticking a cucumber up our asses...

Think about it, they don't want to sway us into going to a new dance game(that would be to difficult for the fat cats), they most likely want to create a game that will be completely illogical and at the same time potray us as fools. They could create a game similar to DDR, and it would be a rip off beleive me, but I doubt it'd be good.

I think if they are smart they will take DDR, and stack Para Para Paradise over it, so there is both hand and feet gestures. Any idea they choose will most likely be ripping off Bemania anyways, why not take 2 ideas and fuse them? They could have there be fewer para arrows to make it less complecated and such.

Seems now they have something going with Midway, which doesn't know poopy about music games, but that doesnt mean they will take the music franchise with Midway. I just think Midway makes crappy games that always seem to try to meet par and nothing more.

What I hope will happen is MTV leaving the dancing field entirely, so we don't end up getting rushed out of our home arcades.

anyways... i'm going to sleep. Please, don't let DDR go to hell with brainless zombies. I know I might sound over synacle but its just how I feel. The hip hop on MTV is talentless and U.S Pop on MTV has always seemed like a scam for sex appeal.

Total amatuers make the steps for Stepmania Songs, and most of those play just fine. As long as MTV gets someone who has at least played DDR before to make the steps, then I don't that issue will come into play.

AFAIK none of Naokis songs consist of "monotonic beeps", they are all songs in their own right, and fit the "DDR song" stereotype pretty well.

To say that it's not been done well before is a vast misjudgement by people who have probably only watched someone play basic on DDR US. Commercial companies like this don't want to make a quality experience, they've picked up that dance games are getting popular and are jumping on the bandwagon, using their production money on popular licenses to get people to buy buy buy, not making a quality experience.

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

There's a good chance E-Prime is referring to KeeL's music on ITG, though the issue of monotony is completely a matter of opinion, an opinion which is not shared by me at all. E13.gif

Actually, I didn't mean monotonous, I mean monotonic, like the term for bad cell phone ringers. Many DDR songs sound bland and synthetic, like a poor ring tone. Naoki sounds slightly better, but only before you've heard that all 3000 of their songs follow the exact same formula. I can see why music fans would cringe at DDR, fun or not.

MTV was basically responsible for Napoleon Dynamite and Orange County, and everyone loved those.

I hope they don't know what they're doing. MTV < Konami

MTV can make movies, sure. Joe's Apartment also comes to mind, and I'm pretty sure they heavily backed Moulin Rouge and William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet, which is really good if you can manage to wrench your brain open and get off the Leonardo DiCaprio schtick.

However, those were somewhat separate ventures from the music channel. Nobody ever said that MTV can't make original programming, or else we wouldn't be talking about Jackass or Beavis & Butthead or Liquid Television or whatnot. However, developing those programs *at the expense* of the music content is the problem, and that's where MTV painted themselves into a corner. Too much The Real World and Road Rules instead of music videos, which are supposed to be what the network is about. That and a distinct genre shift in the music they air.

Again, the problem can most likely be attributed more to payola than to MTV itself, but they did make the petard, and now they're being made to hoist themselves on it.
