I think that this is a great idea. Even if MTV's game sucks uberly, they do have a huge crowd to advertise to. If it resembles anything like DDR or other Bemani, people that never played it before might be swayed to get the good stuff after getting introduced to it through the crappy game(s). |

Hey, MTV, remember what happened when Nokia thought it could take on that little thing with buttons called the GBA, and they ended up screwing themselves over? Yeah, ya might want to read about it.
Also, what if they turn out a dance game? Obviously it would be a direct ripoff of DDR, because it would be easy to ride on another game's popularity (cough...cough....GTA). I can see the horror now: Dramatic, self-centered teens everywhere will be going to arcades, turning to DDR and ITG machines, and complaining when they can't find 50 cent or The Killers. It could help build the community, but who wants the people that think they might damage their "reputation" playing some of the more unusual songs of DDR? If they do release something, we might see a steep increase in the annoying players who think they've got skill cause they can A a 5 footer.
If you think about your reputation when playing the game, you can't call yourself a real player.
I hate to be very aggressive and sound like I'm ranting, but this is how I feel. _________________

Oh, I'd rather send a dissertation of dissent in letter form instead. Anyone can shoot off an angry e-mail; at least a letter has a higher chance of being read by someone. _________________

That would be VH1.
Not that it makes it any better... since that channel was supposed to be about music too. Not that I'm b*tching! I've gotten into their whole celebrity reality show thing they have going on these days. I'm totally gearing up for the next Surreal Life with Janice Dickinson and Omarosa from The Apprentice! Genius!!
As for a MTV music game... whatever it may be. I don't know if it would be any good, but I imagine that record companies would be REALLY nice to them and practically hand over licenses to lots of material. Hey, if anyone can make a decent stepchart to Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani, then more power to you!!

Thank you for succesfully contributing to this thread.
Personally I'm going to use the age-old adage of "Wait and See". We honestly have no idea, and our only hints are pure speculation. This could be awesome, good, okay, poor, or sucktacular. We don't know.
Personally, I like the idea of MTV having a split screen during music videos so you can "shadow". |

Oh yeah this game is gonna suck big time, simply for the reason that mtv is picking the music, you'll have a choice between five songs and they will all be played on a continuous loop. OH yeah and the announcer will be either jesse camp or randy of the redwoods.

Oh really? You spoke with MTV on this matter, and this is what's going to happen? Wow man, for someone who has such connections, I don't know why you're bashing it.

If it's mainstream it must suck! Obviously that's why it's so popular!
If they figure out how to do this (unlike MadCatz), then it can be a great game. I hate how this place is always like "IF IT'S MAINSTREAM IT'S AWFUL KAWAII." |

Lets look at the bright side, if MTV succeds and brings rhythm games to mainstream then we'll be seeing alot more music games in the market. _________________

MTV in music that is the most contradictory thing it has said.
MTV would rather air Real World repeats than air music videos is that just me or does that piss any of u off.
Repeats of the Newlyweds are always on even though the series has been canceled. It bugs me!
I am certain that MTV already has crapy video games.

I liked the "ripping off DDR and ITG" statement. It was really really funny.
Also, keep in mind that exposure to something the preps will play doesn't mean more acceptance of what has come before... Going from whatever joke this will be to DDR means being able to listen to and accept something new. If MTV's target audience cared about new things, there wouldn't be so many boy bands, for a start. And if MTV's target audience went up in smoke... well, finish that one yourself. :D

I like how no one has stopped to think that MTV is looking for partners... game developers to be exact... imagine if instead of creating a DDR clone with some random developer... they go for the real deal... Konami and MTV in bed together!!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Even though the chances of this actually happening would appear to be very slim to non-existant. This wouldn't be such a farfetched idea. Konami wants to sell the game to a wider audience, what company wouldn't? MTV already has the attention of a very large demographic, and like I said, one would assume they have the ear of a lot of top record companies and possibly the ability to pull in many favors from these companies. I just wouldn't be shocked... or opposed to the idea really... I do likes my licensed music. "Come into the light, children!! Aaaaaall are welcome!! Aaaaaall are welcome!!"
What I would find HILARIOUS if MTV did have a DDR clone put out there by some random developer, and it ended up being not only a solid game (which would mean a polished game with real fun factor, and fun factor doesn't mean a game with a large block of 10+ foot ranked songs. thank you.), and then in turn became a hugely successful game, surpassing DDR in overall sales and popularity... Now THAT would be FUNNY, especially for some of you people posting in this thread who are making the least sense. "OMGITGDDRMTVFUKME" or whatever
I'm gonna sit back and watch this play out... could be interesting, or a disaster... you never know. Okay, me go to bed now... me tired!

There better be speed mods because I know Iâll be playing with sneakers on.
There better be lots of decent 10+ footers and not just singles but doubles also. |
