I'm getting married in a couple of months and so I've finally moved into my own apartment (a double-block actually) and I'm worried about playing DDR and having the entire house shaking while I "stomp to the beat" E1.gif

So, can I do anything to make it so I don't shake the house every time I use the pads? Will putting wood (eg. particle board) underneath the pads help at all?

congrats on your marriage!

I had this same problem. If you do a search you can find people in similar situations. I did a search before getting considering getting into ddr and came up with a good solution which works for me. I live on the ninth floor in a 60 year old apartment building. I bought a red octane ignition in march which is pretty thick to begin with. I play that on top of a thick berber carpet and underneath my carpet i have a thick carpet pad. I try not to stomp. I definitely dont play after 10pm. I dont play in the middle of the room but closer to a wall because the floor seems supported a bit more.
My system absorbs the sound quite nicely. no complaints so far. but then again i play mostly standard.

I also have a red octane ignition. I'm also a heavy/oni player and it worked pretty well for a while. We had no complaints and I was able to rip up the floor with my Max 300 routine. Unfortunately, I can only play it on my PS2 because the down arrow won't work on my XBox. I would have to use the paper pad that came with DDR Ultramix. I've only had the thing for about 3 months.

P.S. Congrats on your marriage

I live in an apartment, too....and I have the same problem. Just pay attention to the time.. I dont know about where you live but..... where I do as long as it is before 10:00, go ahead and knock yourself dead... blast the music, stomp as hard as you can. ^___^ but at 10:00 everything needs to stop o.o riiight.gif

Welcome to DDR Freak! I have the same problem; I too play on a Red Octane Ignition in an apartment. Honestly, as far as noise goes a RO Ignition is probably the best way to go. It's still noisy, but it isn't as flimsy or heavy as other pads. I strongly suggest you go a search in this forum because MANY people have had the same problem as you, and I personally have found a few good suggestions.

Good luck!
