Please list little tid bits about DDR that new players need to know. Stuff like this is spread all through different threads lets condencse it. New players can also post questions concerning ddr. Not just about gameplay because this isn't in the gameplay forum. Anything you've ever wanted to know about ddr you new players. And please to the experienced players don't flame the new players any we were all new once.

Even if you hit an arrow when ur not supposed to as long as it's not really close to when ur supposed to hit it you dont get points taken away.

Did you start this thread to educate new players on the things that they don't understand yet, or did you start it to make fun of new players' mistakes?

Just curious.

The Criteria of not stomping the living hell out of the pad till it breaks.
The only song that would be appropiate for is Stomp To My Beat.

Two arrows at the same time means jump.

ITG- Three and four arrows at the same time means feet AND hands, mmkay?

The arrows do NOT light up to show you where to step. <- My personal favourite. laugh.gif

To educate mostly, new players shouldn't be made fun of. This can be the noob help thread... I guess I should re-name it. Okay so Vangulus made a good point... new players... dont stomp pads.

.... hmmmm... that was a really long run-on sentance.... and it made me laugh laugh.gif Try rewording it and adding punctuation. This is probably what you meant to say:

When they hit the arrows and they are nowhere near the "hit point", then points get taken away. But, if they hit and arrow and it is partially near the "goal", then mild points will be given.

My "common thing that new players to ddr don't understand" would be this (and, btw, i did it too for about a week... riiight.gif ):

When new DDR players believe that returning to the middle of the pad is considered a "good" thing. nerd.gif

Haha sorry bout the bad puncuation. Really! That's a good point! I've noticed many new players return to the middle. New players! Be sure and step around the pad.

Not even then. Don't step with force; as in, don't make an intentional effort to add downward force to your steps other than regular foot movement and gravity. Not only will you tire yourself out, you'll wear down the machine. Sharp blows to the sensors are not good. Ever.

As for 'Ivan, never!! I will always use my big feet to their full advantage! You'll never stop me HAHAHAHAHA!!!" [/insanity]

When playing ITG dont let 16ths and hordes of freeze arrows scare you, they arent has hard as they seem. Bursts of 16ths usually are non candle steps (steps where you crossover or have to turn your body in anyway) so they are swift movements. 1 second long freeze arrows are how long you should hold them anyway.. so dont worry about them just crossover as neccessary

Practice. Sure, it's cliche, but, in the end, it'll prevail over any technique you might try.

If you're unfamiliar with a song, instead of completely sightreading it, play it on a lower difficulty. This has really helped improve and accelerate my ITG scores, enough as to wish I'd done it when starting to play Heavy on DDR.

Arcade, home, and general help for the newbies (that I wish someone told ME) :

-Despite what some people say, it's okay to hold on to the bar [at the arcade] on more challenging songs. It's a learning tool. E1.gif

-The first song is the kindest with misstepping. A Boo or Miss on the first stage will not take away as much of your 'life' than it will on the final stage.

-If someone calls you a newbie/newb, don't take offense. That just means that you're a new person to the game. E4.gif

-At home, you can change the colors of the arrows in "Options" if you have difficulty reading the rainbow arrows. The "Type2" arrows: red for 1/4 beats, blue for 1/8 beats, yellow for 1/16 beats, and green for 1/32 beats.

-Sorry...freezes will only be green, no matter what the timing of it is. Harder to time those freezes. frown.gif

Hope that helps some of you! nerd.gif

So this doesn't belong in Gameplay or even in here because why?

That could be why. The quote talks about people that should post questions concerning ddr, not ddr gameplay. This sounds like more of an advice/chit-chat thread. I am a bit swayed as to where this could possibly be, but from the first post, i feel that maybe it's ok here nerd.gif

Well... The reason it doesn't belong in game play or the other one is noobs ask any thing about ddr. Not just the game play but any noob questiong such as Why is it called Dance Dance Revolution. I didn't say just about how to play the game. Your not a mod. This forum really makes me mad when people like you who think their mods come in and tell people what to do. If you wanna act like a mod then you can just pm a mod dont try to make your self look cool and tell people where to post. That's not your job!

Thanx XuXa!

And to keep on topic so I dont get warning pts unlike GARY...

Be sure and dont cut in front of people at the arcade. There are usually lines so learn about the lines.

Hmmm... possibly because this is called the "New Player help thread". Why would a "n00b" post something if their new? Isn't this supposed to be for them? I'm sorry, i just found that rather confusing and had to make it clear as to why they wouldn't post here.

Ya Velcom nerd.gif

well, I figured if it was the new player help thread, someone would come along and post a question. Yeah, the suggestions are good (and some are downright hilarious laugh.gif ) i thought it's odd that this has kind of become the "my old habits" and "annoying things i see" thread. I just thought it was ironic.
