Ah, yes, it may be wrong, but it feels right!! Once, I tricked some noobie girls to play Drop Out............Then some noobies tried to play a Max song (Think "The Legend", can't remember, was on Extreme for PS2) & got a D!!! ON BEGINNER!!!! laugh.gif

Edit: They were noobs, not newbs, I just learned da difference...

Usually, I get B's on Light & it's easy. But I just wish I knew you can fail on the 1st stage on Standard (I'm Light) & wasted $1 playing Jet World on Standard.......(Looks at location) But once I was playing with this TERRIBLE newbie (Couldn't get a C on ANY Beginner song!) on Love Again Tonight (For Melissa Mix) & he was going like stomping all over the pad! It's just sad that nobody who plays DDR with me has the guts to play Drop Out.....

Well, I didn't trick a n00b, I GOT tricked. laugh.gif

It was my first time playing DDR, so my friend thought it would be funny by letting me play single player for EXTREME. I thought that was okay- I mean, he was my best GUY friend who was awesome with DDR. He claimed that he would give me the EASIEST song in the world to play. It was what he called a "2 footer for toddlers."

Well, "2 footer for toddlers" MY BUTT!! It just so happened that he set me up with PARANOiA SURVIVOR MAX THREE TIMES IN A ROW. And just to make things even more fun for him, he set up the difficulty on HEAVY.

I've NEVER let him pick my DDR songs since. laugh.gif

My friend had neever been to the arcade before but he did play at home a lot and he was on heavy. And he was one of those people who say speed mods are cheating, so I let him rethink that as he experinced Bag for the first time. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Haha, Bag's always a good one.

I have many times been playing with a beginner and accidentally picked an Oni song...it's kinda funny to surprise a beginner with Sexy Planet Nonstop. E1.gif

Also, if someone is playing on Standard and they don't know better and let me choose the song...Ska a go go!!

*FAILED*

No, that's downright jerky, immature, and mean.

If a person asks to play with me, I pick a song they'll be able to play. If I had watched them play a set, I usually gauge how well they've been playing based on the sets they had played before. If I hadn't seen them play, I ask them what their difficulty is, and usually start off with an easier song just to be safe. In most circumstances, I'm usually better than the person I play with, since most of the other good players I'd recognize off the bat or would usually (like me) prefer to play by themselves. In that case, if I know I can beat said person, I don't kick them while they're on the ground because usually it sucks when 1) The person next to you can consistently AA/SDG songs, 2) You can't clear them well, and 3) She's a girl dressed in a miniskirt. Unless they're a jerkoff who thinks they can show me up by picking some 9 footer and is really all talk because he can only do is A or B songs, then I'm usually nice to whoever it is.

I'm the chick who's helping the newbies try to figure out the 4th Mix Plus machine, giving tokens because I feel sorry for the pair of girls who picked Double instead of Versus, turning off ridiculous mods that people accidentally set on ITG, helping the newbies stand up for themselves when they want to play DDR in the sea of intimidating heavy players lined up in the coin line, etc. For all of you who think tricking newbies is cool, you should be downright ashamed of yourselves.

E4.gif I just wait until they start to pick a song and I pound on the back arrow to switch it to heavy/oni. Screws them up so badly!

I told my dad to try Drop the Bomb Heavy (he's starting Heavy and this is a 6-footer, so I assumed it would be easy). It wasn't intentional, but he failed out. I felt terrible after that...

I never trick people into doing hard songs on purpose. It's almost cruel...

Quoted for emphasis. People in the arcade I used to play in before it shut down would wait for someone to select a song, then push onto the machine and select Expert mode. It worked up until I FC'd the song they "chose for me", then they seemed to give up.

I admit I've tricked beginners into doing hard songs. But because I hardly stick around DDR anymore, I haven't done it lately. I'm not saying that if I did stick around there I'd trick them. . . but I can't say I would either. It really depends on how I feel. Sounding conceded and shiat, but oh well.

Arrggh... that happened to me once like two years ago when I was about to do Afronova Primeval on light, my one friend stepped on the back arrow and I ended up doing it on heavy, of course only for a few seconds... but, that's where i learned how to switch the difficulty on 5th mix

Anyway, normally I just let noobs do their thing, its funner to watch some of the ones that play on light to bloat their egos and then bust out the heavy doubles as they sulk away, funnier than to just see them fail (Unless failing makes them really pissed)

Nah, I've never told a newb to pick a hard song before, but there was this one person in the arcade, he thought he was good because he completed Sakura on Standard (D), so I told him to try Bag on Heavy. He didn't even read the foot level, and he said, "Oh, this is a slow song, it should be easy." ...He failed in less than 20 seconds. xD

Never tricked them. This one girl was on beginner, and she asked "Whats the fastest song". I said "Like, the fastest BPM?" she said yes. So the one off the top of my head was MaxX Unlimited.

Passed with a D. I didn't trick her, i warned her.

U guys are mean! Why would you ruin the n00bs first arcade experience with DDR? That could drive them away from purchasing any DDR games and it makes other players look bad. No wonder not a lot of adults at my local arcade are fond of DDR players. . .

I haven't intentionally tricked anyone, though I've seen many (including myself, at one point) get tricked by picking the Oni steps to a song, because the remix "sounded cooler." When this happened, I *wanted* to play Tsugaru Trick. I wound up with Tsugaru ~Apple Mix~. I was surprised, to say the least. I try to warn people if I see them about to pick an Oni song when I know they really don't want it, or if they pick a song too high for them (e.g., someone clearing B4U Trick with a C-B, then highlighting PS Trick, I point out that there's a big difference between 5 and 8, in the DDR realm.)

Heh, I try to do the same thing, though item #3 isn't applicable to me. riiight.gif Usually, if someone acts frustrated that they couldn't do as well as me, I point out that I've just been playing a little longer, and that I wasn't at Trick for more than 3 weeks at 3 nights a week before moving to Maniac. Encouragement of lesser players *is* good--it was heartening for me to hear from people whom I watched FC the World Tour Oni course tell me that I did fine for my skill level.

Are you sure you didn't mean, while "they're" on the ground?

[RiVAL] Julie Q wrote:

Very good point. My philosophy is that, unless you've seen them play, assume they're better than you, unless you know *for certain* otherwise. Honestly, imagine how dumb I'd look/feel when I collapse on the pad after getting a C on PS Maniac, while Julie stands there, hardly out of breath and a AA. If you assume someone is better than you, and they're not, then hooray for you! It turns out you're better. If you assume they're better, and they are, then hooray for you! You were correct, and you've partially mastered "humility."

There was this little kid that kept on playing the same song over and over on beginner mode. He wouldn't stop playing and I got angry. Before he selected it again, I was able to switch it to light. I finally got my turn. E4.gif
