I like the chance button on ITG. I've gotten Liquid Moon twice and Tribal Style once.
BTW, I've only used it 4 times |

You do realize that "Chance" is practically identical to DDR's "Random," right?

DDR random only lets you choose difficulty before you press it.
ITG chance lets you choose before and after.
DDR random does only songs that you have.
ITG chance does any song on the game.
And in the first 4 times that I used chance, the last one was something I already had. |

ITG chance lets you choose before and after. | IIRC, you can still use the Modifier menu if you use Random, which would allow you to change the difficulty. _________________

Hint: you know what song you are going to play and can change difficulty after you know the song on ITG.
You don't know what song it is until you start it on DDR. If you can't pass it on xxxxx difficulty, you're screwed. |

Chance is like Random Caprice in DDR. It picks at random, but if you don't like it, you can just change and come back on chance for a new random song. _________________

you're thinking of random. with chance you're stuck with whatever you get (unless you use the mod menu and back out).
also if you put the song on expert before you hit chance, you'll only get songs that have an expert stepchart. |

In DDR you can get to the modifier menu and listen to the song and adjust it.
ITG's Chance -> DDR's Random
ITG's Random -> DDR's Random Caprice _________________

After checking on EX US, I have this to report on DDR's Random option. In the new interface, a sped-up mix of DDR songs is played instead of the preview track for your random song, even when you enter the options menu, so you really can't figure out what it is beforehand. Yes, the banner in the options menu is still the "Random" banner. I haven't fooled around with "Random" in EX arcade, EX CS JP, or Party Collection, all of which still use the old interface. I could check, but I don't feel like doing a disc swap at the moment to boot my Japanese mixes Maybe later on this evening when it's not so hot and humid (needs air conditioning in his apartment ). _________________

I wouldn't say they're "evil" for doing that. Konami simply avoided creating what would essentially be a redundant function. "Random" now gives you a song, completely blind, until you begin to play it. If you want to randomly select a song but still see what it is beforehand, you can use the old "Roulette" option instead and just close your eyes. Then you can see what you get AND still enter the options menu if you need to change the difficulty level or any other modifiers. _________________
