Okay, this news is a little bit weird. So they've renamed "In The Groove 2" to "Pump It Up: In the Groove 2", since the cabinets are made by the company that makes the Pump It Up cabinets, but not making any other actual changes. That part makes sense. Does anyone know if they've modified the game itself to add the "Pump It Up" bit (to the title screen or whatnot) or if they've just printed up different marquees & cabinet decorations at the last minute while leaving the game unchanged?
Also, can someone confirm if RoXor is actually selling ITG2 BoXors and ITG1-to-ITG2 upgrades? I know they were planning to, and they're still listed on the order page (last time I checked), but with the lawsuit pending, and with this recent renaming, I wonder if they're still going to go through with it. If they do, I wonder if the conversion/upgrade kits will still have the Pump It Up name attached to them. Any info? |

I could be mistaken though |
I'm pretty sure that's simply in reference to the fact that Andamiro made the ITG2 cabinets. Since that requires Andamiro's own research & design plus manufacturing facilities, I'd say that covers the "co-development support" comment. _________________

In return, they're getting advertisement for AM's own dancing game. _________________

This has got to be Roxor's sexiest move yet.
I have no problem with the new name.
I think the spokane crew will eventually be calling ITG2 'the sexual game' hence the... name.. is kinda suggestive... Pump it Up In the Groove... Honestly...

If there is going to be Pump songs added to ITG, I'd be happy. I have not had the chance to play ITG, and when I once in a blue moon play PUMP, I love it.
Doesn't Andamiro pay Konami per machine they sell, due to the settlement when they sued eachother? Maybe this is Roxor's way out of not getting sued by Konami.
I would think, though, that "Pump it up : Groove" along with "Pump It Up : Exceed" would make more sence then having "Pump it up : In the groove" then Pump it up Exceed. Like, just have the one name Identify it as its series. or PIU classic and PIU:Groove, something like that.
EDIT: Where do you people play PIU where the bars are loose? Only once have I ran into a loose PIU machine. _________________

Well that I can agree with. They (Used to) feel less dense then DDR bars, but I just played on a *brand* new PiU Exceed 2 machine, and they where just fine. I did not notice a difference (Unfortunaitly that machine is 3 hours away). _________________

Tomo_kun, there are absolutely NO PIU songs in ITG2. Plus, I don't think we can really call Pump It Up and in the groove the same "series" yet, as all that is evident is that the cabinets bare that combination name as a way for Andamiro to get even more out of Roxor than just their money to make cabinents (i.e. they also get advertising space for their own game in exchange for making a cabinet for a different company's game). _________________

Thunderbird, I think I must've been half-asleep when I made that last post. I was talking about it today and went "Wait. That was Thunderbird I was bytching to. He'd know better than I would. Eep!" Yeah, 8 on the Break STILL has the Beta. As of 6 PM today it was STILL not upgraded to the final version. And the things I'm hearing from various sources are both confusing and mildly aggravating:
1) The kit is still on the way.
2) The kit has arrived and will be installed this week.
3) The kit has been at the Break for a while now and Chris hasn't gotten around to installing it.
4) There IS no kit to install, because the machine can have the upgrade uploaded to it, and either Chris or the ITG Team has just not bothered to do so yet.
Honestly, I have no idea when the final version will be up and running here, and apparently, neither do any of the regulars at the Break, including the various ITGFreak mods/admins.
Freeze Rolls are NOT that hard, as jbean says. I was playing Decelerated Intense earlier and Renaissance Hard was on it and there's 16 freeze rolls on there, IIRC. In no way did I find any of them to be a problem at all. I mainly think of them as 2-arrow 1/16th-note runs, but without requiring the same level of accuracy.
As far as the Beta-to-final upgrade goes, yeah, from what I've heard today, I'm expecting MAJOR changes:
- The Dance/Battle/Marathon/Survival screen will be RADICALLY different
- Differing menu select music, at least for Survival.
- New graphics for the menus & results screens
- New synched BG videos (Best example: Energizer's slowdown.... FLOWERS!!!!)
- Doubles steps for all the songs (Baby Don't You Want Me... to have doubles steps? ;_; )
I think I had more, but I got sidetracked into watching TV with someone, so my brain stopped the topic. If I think of more, I'll toss it in later. _________________

The only hope's for the Kpop/Pop to get licensed(which would be interesting), but Andamiro's Banya songs are staying exclusive.
Probably unlikely for the other stuff to crossover too, considering that not only is it a bit outside of the ITG demographic, but Banya also did remixes of a lot of them(listen to the scratching in Power of Dream and By Your Side for example). _________________

As JimTheFly said, the layout before the SelectMusic Screen is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I have some pics somewhere. It is a nice change. _________________

No worries about people confusing PIU with ITG...
The PIU logo is smaller and in the upper right corner on the title screen and on the marquee in the same spot
The Lost City in Holland, Michigan purchased the new Andamiro cabinet... that is how I know... I haven't been there myself yet but tomorrow... I will be there |

So, it *IS* the exact same game as it was, the same ITG2 they have in Cali and everything, it just has PIU appended to the front of the name?
Sounds cheesy as hell, really. I agree with the person that said they shoulda just added andamiro to thename somewhere, or the banner. It's like taking a series that already exists and adding ANOTHER series to it that's completely unrelated unless you look at hardware. If it was anything to do with the ACTUAL GAME it'd make mroe sense...
Anyway, I don't liek it, but hell we won't get it for forever anyway, and now there's an Exceed 2 down the street so I'm fine. But it's weird cause I'm a big PIU fan, but not ITG. Now that could be confusing to people. :\ |

Well, to clear up the point about AM involvement in the software (songs), they originally had planned some input there, but things changed over time. _________________

When Square and Enix joined forces, you didn't see Final Fantasy X-2: Dragon Warrior VIII.
Although that probably would have been a lot cooler than Final Fantasy X-2 was. |

And at any rate, they *are* making a joint FF/DW game, so...there. _________________

But it doesn't really interfere... this is the machine I played on (30 minutes away) http://www2.gvsu.edu/~brittedg/ITG2/
As you can see the Pump it Up logo is really small and to the right of the In the Groove 2 logo... People read left to right and the In the Groove 2 logo is the first thing you see... so it's not going to confuse anyone...
Edit :
OMG! Our machine is down!!!!! The coin door was wired wrong before but I didn't think that was an issue... waiting to hear what is actually wrong with it... |
