for the 3rd time tonight I have to agree with everyone who thought the original post of this topic was RETARDED. Honestly...you were ALL a newb at one point or another...so I really don't think anyone should go on saying "blah blah blah I hate n00bs" because I'm pretty goddamn sure someone said the same shit about you when you started playing. And let's face it folks..there's always someone who's better than you. so SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!!!!!

Nope, Yasu sucks ass compared to MegamanX (Kevin Boddy[sp?]).

Well, maybe not sucks ass per se, but I'm pretty sure MegamanX is a lot better than him.

Trying to show off on light?

You would probably get mad at me for playing light but I don't show off. I'm just uncoordinated as hell. Plus I've only played DDR for at friend's houses or at arcades sometimes.

Seconded.

thirded. Didn't we all get into DDR for the fun? And I can be accused of that. I was playing some 6-footers on standard a while back and some people i was at the arcade were really impressed. Later, people were doing sakura, the maxes, etc. and they never got the cred they deserved.

Stop missing the point! I have nothing against newbies. I cheer them on when they are doing the 2-3 footers they think are hard. I just can't stand when they start bragging to their friends over such mediocrity. Plus; I went on after them because it just so HAPPENS that it is the only DDR machine in the arcade and I'm not going to lower myself to light and waste a buck just to make a newbie look good. So excuse me for wanting to play DDR. Assholes.

This is EXACTLY what I'm talking about. I've got no problem with you playing light. I was there for more or less two months. I don't hate noobs, just the ones who say "holy poopy! I'm frick' awesome!" when they 'A' a 2-footer.

Well...we all use to be that bad. We all just didn't step on a Machine, do LoM heavy, get a C, or B and say "Wow, maybe I should play this more often, It's fun!". We were all newbs at one point, and now are the 1337 machines we are today, so we have to respect that maybe one day, ONE DAY! That newb you laughed at in the arcde is the one that 0wN3d you at the National Tourtement.

What you saw as mediocrity those friends saw as pure talent. And, possibly, they could be supporting thier friend. I know, I know, it's an unlikely idea... but you never know.

KyahRyorin, you used the right words to explain this situation. And yes, you have a point.

DDR is a game, not the whole essence of life.
... I always knew it was a game, and I never treated the game like it was a big deal to me. It's fun to play, and those new players aren'tmessing with the game either. They're just having fun. And also, when you're a new player, some people just like to show off what they have learned. It's like a little kid coming home from school and showing his/her mother the 'A+' they got on their science project. It's not the same thing, but it's jsut what people tend to do. And also, those new DDR players, with or without knowing, are showing their friends how fun it is to play DDR and how easy it is to learn. So won't you guys just leave the beginners alone. Cause that's just how it goes. But if you keep trying to always be better than those still learning, you might as well not play DDR. Because it's good to teach beginners how to play, not how to feel humiliated.

Thank you. I was a little worried that I'd get flamed or told to STFU for stating my opinion.

Mister_doublea, I understand you have no disrespect against newbies. And as you state, I can agree with you on how you don't like how newbies seem to flaunt about if they got an A on a light 2 footer. Completely and totally understandable.

But also consider this: Just how long might it have taken them to get that A? I've only gotten it once in my entire time of playing DDR, and that was by playing "A" by D.J. Amuro three times in a row on Single Player for the seventh time in a row that day (I just love that song too much! X3). The fact is, they might have been trying their hardest to get a decent grade, and surprisingly, after trying for a while, they finally beat the song with an A. They have every right to show off to their friends, because they actually stuck with it and didn't give up when the game told them they they were terrible.

Now, to agree with you on one point: I believe also that if they start saying that they're better than anyone else in the world and rub it in other's faces that they got an A on a song, while this person could only perhaps get a B or a C, then yes, they are being reckless and totally in a "newbie mode." (My friend and I label this mode as when a totally new person steps onton DDR for the first time and passes their first song with an E and nearly dies from happiness) Now I'm not saying that they need to be put in their place, but they also need to be reminded that Light mode is the easiest of the modes. Don't use this as a putdown; rather, encourage them to keep improving.

I noticed that when I was anoob things were "funner", during the whole mid times for some reason DDR became more competitive, whether it was the people or me, Im not sure. But there was always someone bragging thinking they were better then someone else...But anyways, its all fun and games now and determination to get better.

Oh, and I hate people staring at my breast when I play, if I could like...take them off while I played DDR it would be great. I also hate guys thinking they can own me in the game cause Im a girl...or when people have this misconception about when they go up with you its some sort of competition and they get mad when they get like...a B and you get an A or whatever.

I saw this movie called Kung-Pow once, and.... sorry, I couldn't resist. riiight.gif

If certain people have a problem with n00bs acting as if they were good (remember, skill is relative to the player/audience), why don't they just play harder songs directly after the n00b in order to show him/her up?

As far as I'm concerned, watching n00bs play is fun. They always seem to be having more fun than anyone, and it affords me the opportunity to remember the days when I was just like them, and reflect on how far I've come.

Your welcome RyahKyorin....
And also people... yeah.
Let's encourage those new dudes.
It'll make em better players.

Oh, and Inque. I feel a little sorry for you. But hey, just keep playing and show off your moves in front of those idiot peoples. And mug em too.... I'm a boy, but this happened to my sister when she tried DDR for the fun of it one time. She doesn't play DDR, but she tried it once and gave up cuz guys were staring at her boobs too. She sure made them shut up.

Oh, and... errrr...
Keep encouraging those newbies!!!!

By the way RyahKyorin... can u play Heavy?
If you can, kewl. Can you beat So Deep yet?

wow. Looking back, being a newb was so much better. Now it's competitive. I'm competing with my friends to be the best, fastest. I have a friend who says he's done a bunch of stuff (including maxX unlimited heavy) and when I see him play, he does much worse than me. He blames it on his weight, saying he can't hold down the arrows. I think this is a million times worse than newbies. cause, yeah, as long as they aren't annoying kids (screaming and being retarded), they're kinda cool.

The only time a n00b has ever angered me was when she played La Bamba all 4 songs on beginner mode for like 3 games in a row like I wasn't there. She said she wanted to get faster by partially memorizing the song. disturb.gif It didn't work from what I could tell.
