Exactly. It has spins and 1/8th note jumps INSTEAD. |
Yes, but there's little technique involved other than having a lot of stamina. I would imagine the song to be quite difficult on a home pad, but using the bar in the arcade makes this song substantially easier. As long as you can stay alive, you won't have to worry about doing any complex turns or odd patterns. It makes sense though, since otherwise it'd be extremely difficult, better off saving something like that for a future mix. Although, after awhile, I think it'll get to the point where songs just can't get harder with 4 panels.

Also true, which is how I feel for a lot of the songs in ITG. The steps are just a bunch of 16th bullshit that barely follows the music. _________________

If someone actually RAW by themselves, it just proves that people really are crazy, I highly doubt AM intended that song to be beaten.
Heh, someone should just create a dance game with patterns that are just nonstop runs, turns, and jumps thrown in at varying levels of BPM. You people would just eat that up. _________________

Amen. = / I hate the color green now.
Havent actually played Pand' yet, but unless theres alot of jumps and slowing down/speeding up type crpa it cant possible be as hard as everyone says it is.
Of course, I know Ill be eating these words later most likely, but its sort of a 'trick fate into proving me wrong so I can see it" deal. |

Besides, RAW doesn't count. It's not designed to be played/passed, it's more like a mini-game on a credits screen. Whoever made it was just trying to spell out a message, and I doubt he/she was worried about how it would translate into a stepchart.

From earlier in this thread:
"And RAW's been done. Sure it takes at least 2 people (Good vid of 2 people passing it without too much dificulty at pumpcore.com)..."
So, is your information also wrong? I checkout out that video myself. Looked like two people clearning the song to me, unless I'm very much mistaken. _________________

Why don't you just look at the stepchart and see for yourself? It has 109 jumps, out of a total of 858 notes, with no changes in tempo, unless you count the .36 sec freeze. Otherwise, it's 330 BPM, 3 beats slower than TLoM. _________________

Actually no, I'm pretty sure the 109 jumps are added ON TOP of the 858 steps for a 967 max combo. Of course if anybody wants to FC this in SM and take a screenie, that'd show how they decided to add them up. Well, or if somebody wanted to count all the arrows in the stepchart...And actually LoM is 333 and a third, if I'm not mistaken. (yes, I know that's nitpicky :P ) |

I played Pandemonium EX and passed it the first time i played it(67.40 1.5x bar) and believe me.... its as hard as people say it is... I can play sets of PSMO on shuffle barless nonstop for 20 or 30 minutes and that song still damn near killed me in that 2 minute period... |

Although, after awhile, I think it'll get to the point where songs just can't get harder with 4 panels. | Um, no spins in Pandemonium, but anyway... Pandemonium is hard. PSMO is not. I've gotten an A on PSMO, and I can get a B pretty much every time. Pandemonium is insanely difficult, I can't even come close to passing that song. I don't even last halfway. It's not just having stamina, either. I simply cannot do what the song asks of you, it is too difficult.
Thus, I'd say that both PSMO and Pandemonium require technique. They both require different technique, but they both require technique... and Pandemonium is just harder.
I'd also say the Pandemonium expert steps are kind of BS. Other than a couple of parts (that stomping/freeze part is AWESOME, by the way) they don't really follow anything. Summer has a much better expert chart, and is similarly fitting of the "13" rating. _________________

Oh definitely, they require different amounts of skill. Pandemonium requires a lot more out of someone, and shouldn't even be attempted unless you can beat PSMO without any difficulty. There's not too much technique other than hitting the jumps, but it's a straight stamina-killer. If they threw poopy like the PSMO end in that song then it would be easily three times as hard (which is where the series has to go if they want things to become harder, sadly). _________________

Original Z wrote: | (which is where the series has to go if they want things to become harder, sadly). | I disagree. There's a lot of untapped potential in terms of rhythmically complex difficult steps. What if a song like Pandemonium had, rather than the jumps like it currently has, quick sets of 1/16ths (which would, in this theoretical new 14, follow the music). These wouldn't be full-blown 1/16th runs, they'd just be quick two-arrow drills (like LDL) to mix up the runs. That would add a significant challenge, and would also be more rhythmically interesting than just straight 1/8th note runs.
One could also make a song like Pandemonium with turning (lol Bloodrush), but that doesn't make it the only option for increased difficulty. Just look at the 12s and 13s in ITG2. They're all hard, and they're all distinctly different. There's no reason why that trend can't continue into 14s, 15s, and so on. _________________

Neither Pandemonium nor PSMO is that hard huh?
