How do you prepare yourself before you play?
A topic that had something to do with this was already brought up, but i thought i should bring it up again.
This is what i do: First, i wear my specially designed skate shoes for gr8 traction with fashion!
Then i wear good clothing like a shirt with some jeans.
Last, an energy drink and some sports drink or h20 would work perfectly.
It can be anything.

I get athletic shirt and shorts on and play in my K-swiss... Then i think which songs to play and then I get my Propel which I drink the whole time I'm up there and get ready! _________________

Wait at least an hour after eating a lot before you play DDR to lower the risk of throwing up while and/or after playing.
I had this almost happen once. |

I have this funny thing I do where I tap both of my shoes twice on the tip of the sole...but that could be b/c they run kinda big in this style.
I definitely agree...water is good. |

I become very ritualistic any time I plan to play DDR.
The night before: Get a good night's rest. (Which means no playing video games until I pass out on the floor.)
The morning of: Eat a good breakfast. Usually that table full of food you see at the end of a cereal commercial.
Noon: Eat any random leftovers from the fridge that haven't changed colors or evolved into a higher life form yet.
Afternoon: Healthy snack. Fruit, yogurt, or those little cans of fish steaks are a good choice.
An hour or two before playing: Make sure camera batteries are charged, sweat towel is clean, and Gatorades are chilled. I also scarf a couple bowls of ramen at about this time and wash it down with non-carbonated drinks.
Half-hour before: Yell at traffic while driving to the arcade. This makes for a surprisingly good warmup. _________________

I'm a runner, so I stretch. It's been drilled into me to stretch so it's involuntary at this point.
At home, I don't have things to prepare so much as rules.
1)You cannot DDR with a shirt on
2)Your socks must not be black, white, or grey
3)Your wallet must not be in your back right pocket (It's bad luck)
4)If the song ends with a simultaneous left and right step, you must do a pelvic thrust in victory at the end of the song.
To prepare for away from home DDR, I just remember my quarters and a bottle of water. |

Usually when i play on a machine, my legs get all shaky-like.
SO, i run in place, spasam, or yell really really loud to un balance my nerves and get me into "Super BJ" mode. (Then people think im insane because I can play DDR good AND be a weirdo.)
Bad thing is, when I play Sakura as my last song, it turns out I left it on x2 from So Deep or Oni playing Colors. _________________

I wear shorts and a sports bra, t shirt.
Sports bra is a must once I hit 5 footers. Too much jumping. |

Heh, I feel bad for noticing the lack of sports bra on many girls, tepp. In fact, I can't really watch most of the girls at BGW, because most forget to put on clothes in the morning.
Anyway, as for preparing, I make sure there's some kind of food in my stomach, else I feel extremely weak while playing. (I've never thrown up playing DDR, even "exotic ethnic" 5 minutes after finishing cook-out barbecue .) I make sure I drink at least a cup of water beforehand, plus bring 1 or 2 cups with me for when I'm done with a set or 2 of songs. I do some simple stretches which I remember from my soccer-playing days, but nothing too dramatic. Oh, and nowadays, I wear the free ITG shirt I got from RedOctane, no matter what arrow-smashing game I'm playing (some people think "In the Groove" is some super-l33t DDR clan, which amuses me, being that I'm not super-l33t). _________________

Seriously, gang, I just get up and go. I may play a warm-up song like A or .59, but no more thought goes into the process than that. |
