I read every day, although with work being so hectic, it's been hard to get a few minutes to myself.
Anyway, an update on the up arrow.
So after playing phone tag, RedOctane CS says they think it's the control box, not the actual pad. Now, I opened up my up arrow, and the foil looks good, the three wires are solidly connected, plus I even swapped my up arrow with my down arrow, and my up arrow remains broken, and my down arrow continues to work, so it's not the upper plastic part that's the problem. It's either the innards inside the pad, or as they say, the control box.
They said to call back "in the middle of next week" to get on the list for the control box. Sigh. So essentially, I've got to wait at least two more weeks before I can find out if it's the cbox, or if it's the pad. And that means 2 weeks of playing DDR max on a crappy ps2-only soft pad, rather than playing Umix2. *mourn*. I am having Gyrus Full Tilt withdrawals already, and it's only been 3 days.
In the meantime, my up arrow remains pining for the fjords.
The up arrow doesn't work on the ps2 or the xbox, so whatever it is, it's not platform specific. |

Would you mind telling me how good this is when you get it? I'm thinking of getting one but I'm not sure. |

I just now recieved my two afterburners from DHL. Can someone explain to me how I'm supposed to get the plastic shrink wrap coverings that are around every panel? There's still some on the side of the panel when I tear it off, so should i unscrew the panel? |

Yeah you have to unscrew the panels and unscrew the little triangle covers on the arrows in order to get the plastic off cleanly.
Also, the control box problem seems to be an issue with most usb/xbox devices... my up arrow failing, so far, seems to be just my afterburner. LUCKY ME! |

is this just me or is the afterburner alot less sensitive than you thought it would be, personally i am very dissappointed. They DO allow refunds right? or at least exchanges. Should i exchange my afterburner for a differenct afterburner to see if it was just mine? I actually did worse on songs than better once i got this pad. _________________

So unscrewing doesnt screw with the sensitivity like in CFs? I'm afraid of screwing something up, but i dont want all that plastic crap on it. |

I bought an afterburner. When I play UM2 (especially when I jump) an error comes up on the screen about how it's not connected to the xbox. The same thing happens when I play StepMania on my PC, also.
What should I do? |

Blame that on the stupid delivery companies. UPS I know for a fact does not do Overnight/2-Day shipping on the weekends.
I don't know about DHL, but they've always been faster than greased diarrhea getting stuff to me from Japan. _________________

Any word on the new control boxes? I was going to buy this pad, but if RO won't even follow up on the problem then I'm not sure I want to deal with it. |

I called today (1-888-737-8038).
I described the problem I'm having (intermittent disconnects when using usb cable, no problem using PS2 adaptor). The guy (Harris) said I actually probably need a new cable - the one that goes from the unit to the control box. It's weird that PS2 would work and usb wouldn't, but he said that cable has wires running for all the platforms, so usb could be miswired in it even if PS2 wasn't.
He said it should be here in 3 to 5 days, and if it doesn't fix the problem, they'll send a control box next. No charge to me.
I'm pretty happy so far; we'll see what happens. |

I wish it didn't take them so damn long. Releasing a metal pad and "not knowing it would have pc/xbox problems" is just stupid. Thanks for the updates and if you can, please continue to post the status of the new control boxes. |

Has anyone had problems with their pad and the PS2? Mine totally errors to death with my PS2-- First the up arrow and down arrow go dead, then the whole thing. |

I just got mine and it seems the control box issue is still abrupt. Ugh now I have to put in the effort to contact redoctane and WAIT for another. Summer laziness is setting in for me.
P.S.- When should I take off all the plastic? |
