Re: Xbox support. I got the Afterburner to work with my Xbox by using the Xbox cable from my Ignition 3.0 instead of the one that came with the Afterburner.

Re: USB support. Worked fine with the supplied cable.

I must've gotten the only good control box out of the batch, heh.

Can anyone confirm that that bottom of the afterburner is completely flat? Or does it have little legs? The reason I ask is because I'm concerned about the flexing, and was thinking if i placed it on plywood, it would help the durability of the pad a bit.

Any help would be appreciated.

I just got an Afterburner for my birthday. (Well, my wife got it for me, which means I still paid for it, but I'm still happy!) Anyway, I love it, it's awesome, but the control box issue keeps me from using it through USB. I have to go through a PS2->usb adapter.

I called RedOctane tech support (got through right away; what gives, I thought it was supposed to take all day? E1.gif ) and the guy there was really nice, and said they had a bad batch of control boxes, and should have replacements in a week and a half. (Which would be maybe the Friday June 10th, or maybe early the week after that.) Then they'll ship out replacements, and won't need the old boxes back. Which sounds good.

One problem I'm having that I haven't seen anyone else report, is that a couple times my computer has turned off while I was playing. I play a ton of games and my computer is usually really solid. Also, using the same USB adapter with a different pad, I never had this problem. Anyone else seen this one? The support guy said he'd never heard of that happening. (He has now!) frust.gif

Turn off. Not a clean shutdown, like when you hit the power button and you see Windows shutdown how it ought to. It was as if I had unplugged the computer.

When I pushed the power button, it came back on like it should, no trouble. Just scary...

And the point of spamming them for the next 4 days would be?

Seriously, it's only 4 days. Spamming them will only piss them off. Be glad they even replied.

err...i said emailing them on the 10th not until the 10th.
also, im not going to be "glad" that they replied as it is their job and it shouldn't be at the point where i have to be happy they even replied to me.

once again, anyone having a problem with the control boxes, they gave me a specific date for their shipment so june 10th would be the best day to ask for it. (maybe that wording suits you better?)

so these pads have som recess going on. Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the recess, meaning the length of the recess? Is it the same as the arcade? If not, how much recess is there for the arcade? Like 1/4th of an inch?

My up arrow is dead.

Does not work.

Has ceased to be.

Can anyone offer any advice on fixing it? It's not cracked. All other arrows work. The pad has not been abused (other than a fat girl dancing on it 1 hour a day).

It's only a month old, 30 days old, and it is totally completely dead.

Please help, anyone have any advice?

Access the RedOctane warranty on your Afterburner. Contact them, they have been good with my credit card troubles. They're pretty cool, but they just take a long while to respond. Hopefully, it won't be the same for you.

Isn't there some way to just get replacement buttons? Maybe they'll send you one for free, since it's under warranty.

Also, I'm sure you checked this, but one thing that keeps happening to me (maybe once every couple days) and always freaks me out is that my left or right button goes out completely. Then I look down and realize the plug at the "up" side of the unit has come partially out. So I plug it back in and I'm good to go. nerd.gif

Also, on another topic, I noticed last night that a lot of the screws were loosened. So i screwed them down, but I screwed one of them too far without realizing it, and it bent the corner of the button down a tiny bit, so I backed off. It's weird, I figured you'd only be able to screw the screw in a certain distance, but it seems like maybe you could damage it if you went to town. goog.gif

I'm still having a blast with this thing, though. It's amazing! All my scores went way up from the stupid generic floppy pads I was using. I'll be glad when I can use usb though. Sick of hitting up-start-select

I hope the fat girl doesn't read the internet... erm.gif

The Cobalt is coming out with an arcade mod kit. You can not have recess buttons and new brackets. It will be just like the arcade.

2 things....

1. It cant be like the arcade without recessed buttons
2. I just ordered my afterburner tonight and will have it by thursday (it is tuesday night currently)

Once i get it i will surely write my opinion about it...i might eventually buy the new CF if i hear that it is that much better, but for 100 dollars less than that flat CF (which i personally hate..well because its flat) its hard to argue with that this one is not worth it

..plus i just simply love the way it looks, reminds me of the arcade perfectly
