I have two Cobalt Fluxes, but the only other metal pad I've played on was the original RedOctane metal pad. I find the Flux a lot better than the original RO pad.
2) What is easier to use raised or lowered buttons?
I don't think there are any pads with "raised" buttons, but the Fluxes are completely level, if that's what you mean. It's a matter of opinion on which are easier to use; recessed panels help you feel your way around the pad, level panels are easier to double step/slide on.
3) What is more durable raised or lowered buttons?
Most pads with recessed panels use copper foil contacts, which aren't as durable as the sheet metal contacts the Flux uses. The Afterburner isn't really old enough to tell how durable it is, but some have already died.
4) What are some good ways to mod a metal pad? |
You can replace the foil on the bottom of some of the RO/RO knockoffs to offer more durability/sensitivity, and put cardboard under the Fluxes panels to either disable corners (between the sheet metal) or raise the panels (above the sheet metal). |

RedOctane has a metal pad called the Afterburner that is pretty good. It has raised panels like the arcade. Cobalt Flux is then retaliating with a mod of their own for their pads that will be for sale shortly.
Check their respective threads for more information. _________________
