Indeed, I was playing machines at Carowinds, and there would be a big crowd of people getting off a ride, and I found that the only time any stopped to watch was either a)This hot chick was up there dancing or b)I was doing a standard song...yet still owning everyone else. Anytime I did anything on heavy, they all left.

Then again, playing at a seperate machine in the park which is more out in the open, I seemed to get alot of attention from the black crowd. One time this dude got up beside my pad and started crimp walking and saying, "Ohhh we bustin it down!! Break it yo!!"...another time this girl stared for a moment at me and my friend (doing a std and light) and said, 'Dang, and they WHITE too!!!'

I find that freestyle has the most potential to draw crowds of any size. When I freestyle heavy songs, I can draw a crowd. The people get turned off when someone does straight heavy PA, it just doesn't hold their attention I think. I think the people like to see pretty shiney things, like spins or what not.

I think that a skinny geek hunched over a 10-footer just looks lame to people.

check out this DDR and Pump It Up merchandise. Me and my entire squad purchased at least one shirt from this site. The designs are really well done and came out better than my DDr shirt I ordered from red octne.

[advertising sucks]

freestyling would attract the crowd more because it seems as though your dancing like you would do If you wern't on the pad and perfect attack and other styles of playing attract people just not as much if you were freestyling.

I personally think crowds are drawn to the style of the player, and the flow of the music & stepping. Whoever likes more style, or flow determines what they'll stick around for.

If I feel like pleasing the crowd, I usually deck out Jet World, or I'M IN THE MOOD FOR DANCING, and among others. These songs' steps are emphasized to going with the music...and they have their technical parts. So people can be easily noticed by the flow of the steps going with the music. Now, if I played PARANOiA Rebirth, not as many watch, mostly in part to the redundancy of the whole thing (generally a bigass stream of eigth notes).
Probably one reason why 10-footer stompers might not get noticed as much. Normally they'd think it's too insane to be considered stylish (though still impressive). To them the rhythm of the song might be too fast for them to notice subconciously (thus making them stand and watch) and would just sound to them like a giant heap of foot stomping to some techno song, and most of this type of crowd isn't watching to see how accurate you're stepping, or how many greats you get. And the people who don't stick around to see 10-footers are probably the same people who have already seen one played a couple times, and have already been moved by the intensity. They're gonna stop for a guy who they notice is stepping rhythmically to "a bunch of arrows" (to their observation, anyway) with little effort. So for the 10s, their chances of looking to be impressed are slim, and it normally doesn't look as stylish (since the majority of players are probably moving around a lot to hit arrows to a 10-footer), so in the end..."Meh, I gotta go to the store".

I hate it more than anything when you get a crowd for your warm-up song - something like Look to the Sky, and then by the time youy get to Rhythm and Police and Maxx, they've gotten bored and left. Nobody ever watches when I do impressive stuff.

firs off why are u advertising in a thread about noobs getting crowds and u dont even give a link of some kind... and i agree with kdermody cuz a crowd sees that 115 combo and a stream if 1/4 notes they can see that person has rythem

No. Its kinda the othr way around. Im getting A's and AA's on like Leading Cyber and Twighlight Zone and Tsugaru. And the people playing light are getting like B's and C's.

It really sucks for me. The awesome players here will do something like Max 300 or PSM and attract a crowd of about ten or so people, and then I'll get up and play something around the lines of Holic or Tsugaru, and everyone leaves. *sigh* I always get sloppy seconds.....

I HATE IT!

i feel you man, i was trying to do PSM heavy the other day and the 3 people that i was there with were just all standing on the 2p pad and talking and making fun of the wild steps but i didn't even say anything them sucking bad at the game was good enough. But hey i used them for a ride to the arcade laugh.gif thats right i said it.

I hardly ever draw a crowd, unless its a really crowded day at the arcade, and only than do the hardcores come up and watch, but never any noobs, I oncer started with Jam Jam Reggae and I heard the noobs talking sound easy enough, than it started and they just walked away.
are they intiminated
