I'm guessing it is because the down arrow is farthest from the control box (the thing at the top of the pad). I, too, have had a pad with a broken down arrow. |

I don't really understand what the control box has to do with it, I thought the sensors in the pad broke. Am I wrong. It just seems like this crazy phnamonon (man that is BAD) and the control box thing seems like it might be but I just don't get it. |

well if you think about it, when you play on a soft pad, it always slides backward, not forward. this is probably because when you play on the pad you tend to push backwards a bit on the down arrow, which causes it to wear out faster than the other ones. |

Last theory makes sence. The down arrow was the first to break on my old pad. |

Hey, that sounds like a perfectly good reason, so when you push back on the down arrow you are streching out the internal things (for lack of a better word). |

for soft pads it's usually just plastic that connects everything and for metal it's usually something about the ground. |

Personally, I think the back arrow always breaks first because it would have the longest sensor to use, and thus more wiring area that could malfunction. Also, I've heard that having too long a sensor on a homemade pad can cause the wire to burn out, or something similar to that. |

I always use my heel when I hit the back and toes when I hit the others. This could have something to do with it.
By the way xpgaurdian: "su madre va la universidad" means "your mom goes the college". You might want to say "su madre va a universidad". |

i built my metal pad, and i dont think that it "burns out", but it can cause a delay in the sensor becuz the current has to travel across more length of wire...(never happened to me)
i played on my soft pad for about 6 months, and i didnt have a problem with the sensor, just it sliding. (it moved to the right, and a lil forward..)
inside the soft pads, there is a ground layer of a plastic sheet with metal "circuits" on them (hard to explain)
then there is a foam layer with holes about 1 cm in diameter where the buttons are
then there is another piece of the same type of plastic sheet with all the actual different traces (?) that go to the circuit board
i found in my friends broken pad, that it wasnt working because one of the plastic sheets crumpled up and then when u hit the "button", it didnt make contact with the 2 pieces of plastic and didnt register
more than likely the reason that the arrow (any really) isnt working is because of the PLASTIC pieces being crumpled...by hitting it wierd, folding it wrong, ect...
thats just what ive learned...
hope this helps this thread... _________________
