I heard there is now a TV pad that hooks up directly to your TV so you don't need Playstation or X-box. Does anyone here have this TV pad and could you please tell me if you're happy with it or what problems if any there may be? Thanks

Can you be specific as to the reasons I shouldn't get it other than "people said not to?"

These "TV DDR's" are not even made by Konami. They're extremely cheap ripoffs with low quality songs and pads. These things are not worth it. DO NOT BUY IT or you will be VERY sorry.

I'm not totally positive on this, but I think I've played the DDR game that's on the TV pad. It seems to match up, given what I've heard other people say about the game, though. Specifically, what they've said is that it's basically what DDR might have been like if it was made for the old 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). I found an NES game on the internet called "Dance 2000", and I'd guess when you buy one of these pads, the game you get is rather similar to this if not the same. Check out my posts in this thread on the Other Bemani and Music Games forum. You'll see what's so bad about it.

Why is it so crappy, you might wonder? Well, my theory is that they had to cram all the game hardware into the little plastic box at the top of the pad where the controller circuitry usually goes. The only hardware they can do that with so far is 8-bit NES hardware. Let's see, if it took 20 years to miniaturize NES hardware to that point, maybe in the year 2012 we'll see a game like this with SNES level graphics and sound. XD Anyway, couple that with the fact that this isn't an official product by any stretch of the imagination (EDIT: As DeeEckzWhy! mentioned 1 minute before I did =P), most likely made by some shady bootleg company with all the game creation talent of a pack of monkeys randomly banging on keyboards, and you've got something you couldn't pay me to take.

They are calling this DDR. If it is a ripoff, how do they get away with calling it DDR? Isn't that a copyright infringement?

Here's the link so you can see if it's the same as the ones you guys saw in the mall or whatever. I got the impression that this is something new from DDR, but it doesn't have the manufacturers name anywhere.

I have played it before. It is really really bad. There is very few songs on it despite whatever it may say, and the arrows dont scroll as much as they do.. blip. It's sort of like playing DDR on your calculator (the poopy one) but you actually have a pad (and that is crap as well)
