Can I use my DDR dance pad that came bundled with my copy of DDR extreme for ps2 on Xbox DDR games?

It depends on the type of pad, but probably not.

Yes, but, obviously, you have to buy a converter first.

there are some pads that come with both xbox and ps2 cords

If the Dance pad that came in your DDR Extreme for ps2 bundle has dual converters for the Playstation 2 and Xbox (which it doesn't) then you are one lucky guy. If you wanted to use this pad on your Xbox, you would have to buy a PS2 to Xbox converter. It's almost as expensive as an Xbox pad though, the choice is yours.
