|
|
Alright, I've been reading through these threads on this forum for a while.
I have been playing DDR for a while now, off and on. I've gotten to the point where I can pass most nines (Exceptions definitely present) and am getting close to passing Max 300. However, one of the arcades near me recently switched their DDR machine over to an ITG machine, and I'm interested in learning how to play on it. First of all, should I learn to play hallway style? I always played at 1X speed on DDR, and I found that the best thing it did for me was letting me see more arrows at a time (I had just as hard of a time with sudden 1X as normal 2X). Do I get to see more arrows at once with hallway?
Additionally, every other player on the forum who made the switch keeps pointing out how many songs are difficult above and beyond the ones on DDR. I can't even dream of passing PSMO on my best day, so what songs on ITG should I look at playing that are around my skill?
Finally, is there even a point in playing ITG until I'm good enough to take those ultra hard charts? Perhaps I should just wait until I got a few DDR 10's under my belt to take on ITG? |

You can definitely learn on ITG..some of the 9s on ITG are a good step between ddr 9s and ddr 10s. Hallway is good for you, but you'll probably want to go to 1.5x scroll because itg seems like it scrolls slower (i read 540ish on ddr, and about 680 on itg) _________________

You can start ITG anytime you like, it's not very hard. The songs are just longer. It is a lot harder on Expert because it's like the next level after heavy.
Hard on ITG is like Heavy, and some songs I would Reccomend to start off with on hard are Infection, Oasis(if you can beat So Deep this will be pie), Delirium, Anubis, Mellow, Utopia, and basically anything 8 and under you can do on Hard.
If you want to try some easy 9s on hard that will help you increase your stamina a little and will be a challenge but not impossible, try Hybrid and Disconnected Hyper on Hard, both are 9s and basically just a stream of 1/8th notes.
If you want to try easy Expert 9s, try ROMe-o & Juli8 on Expert which is a pretty easy 9, so is Da roots on expert, an easy 9 with slow 1/16th notes.
But be sure to check how many hands a song has or mines, you can always turn them off if you aren't ready yet, a good song to practice hands with is Bend your mind on medium or hard.
and yea, if you don't want hallway you don't have to have it just change it to overhead, but if you do use hallway, it's better to use at least 1.5 on ITG because 1x seems like it puts the arrows a lot closer... I dunno... yea.. |

RomEO & Juil8 Ex is a pretty good introduction to hands and so is While The Rekkid Spins ex and On A Day Like Today hard. Medium hands are probably Solina ex and Kagami ex (a decent 10). When you're ready for hardcore hands, play Bend Your Mind on any difficulty or Queen of Light ex _________________

The reason people always talk about ITG being harder than DDR is because ITG has a fifth difficulty level, Expert. Hard mode on ITG is equivalent to Heavy, and you should fare well on most songs on Hard. I think hard mode has one 11 and a 10 or two, and the rest are in the 6-9 foot range, but I'm not sure. |

READ THIS THREAD, specifically the first post. It's aimed at people just like you. It's all about the changes you'll see upon trying In the Groove, comparative song difficulties, and so on. Most 9s on ItG are definitely harder than 9s on DDR, because they bridge the 9/10 gap, so that's one thing you'll need to look out for. _________________

while not having played the actual ITG (just SM) looking at some of the stepcharts I say it is a lot easier to get into than DDR... why? It has stuff leading up to the more difficult patterns unlike DDR which has like a few 9s and 10s here and there and some of those levels are inaccurate... as in the crap is way easier than a 10 should be *cough* Sakura |

It depends on how godly you want to be. If you want people to know you throuoght the state, aim for CLEARING 10's on DDR, and 11's on ITG. If you want to be known world wide, aim for BAG AAA on Heavy 1x on DDR, or that ultimate 100.00% on ITG on Anubis Expert.
And yes, ITG is CONSIDERABLY harder than DDR, so I would aim for songs a step down from what you DDR on. I'm less than godly, but pretty much best in city (all Heavy~BAG 5x=A, Sakura=A,TLOM & MU=B/M300=A), and I still have problems on ITG's Expert mode. _________________

Why are you such a big-headed bastard Damien?
You AAA all the easy-buttocks songs... get like, two really impressive scores and then brag about them for months. If you wanna know why no one likes you, check this out:
No other good Bemani artist is a cocky little bitch like you.
That's why no one likes you... and its a big reason why you're keeping yourself from being really well-known. |

He's alot more well known then you are, and he was trying to prove a point by showing his scores on both games. It would be pretty intense if a really good ddr player couldn't score for crap on itg. I hope you like warning points ;D _________________

And being really conceded while doing it..... which was the point that I was trying to prove.

Yay for trolls. Anyways, you won't have much of a problem making the transition between DDR to ITG. One of the harder things at first is getting used to the fact that ITG will feel pretty late compared to most stuff in DDR. _________________

You're a big tough talker, especially behind your monitor, not to mention you're on an "unknown" account.
And you're right. I should stop telling people my scores, that way everyone will know who I am. Kind of how Aaron never showed Yasu or Take, or even his own, scores to anyone years ago, that's how they became so known!1
And I'm making myself known by showing my scores, hence posting them. Zero didn't know, so I showed him, pretty simple.
Oh, and all those DDR scores are 7 months old, I haven't gotten a new score since like...december. I don't play DDR anymore, just ITG. And look, I have 99%'ed 11's and 95+ on 12's. Awww. _________________

Ahh... my friend got his ass banned on my computer. I'm just glad that anus didn't get my IP banned.
Yep, he is a big talker. Don't mind him... he is just annoyed by people that he thinks are big-headed. |
