Got a link to the auction?
As long as you have a third mix or above, all you need is the cd/s, marquee, and chip.
IC installation, reallly easy. Basically involves a flathead screwdriver and not being an idiot and bending the pins on the chip going in (which is as simple as it looks). You USUALLY get instructions along with upgrades. _________________

I have a question, and I hope it is answerable.
Does anyone know a rough estimate of how much it's going to cost to pay shipping on purchasing a ddr machine from Channel Beat? I'm actually just doing pricing right now, but I will eventually get a machine! (at least I hope so)
Any answers would be greatly appreciated!

From channelbeat?
Half the price of the machine is a good starting estimate. _________________

Hello,
To anyone interested:
I recently got a copy of the Arcade DDR Owner's Manual (in English.) I was wondering if anyone wanted a copy of it or if it would be worth scanning into a PDF. Also is this legal?

I would be interested in that. PM me, please.
Does anyone know of a DDR machine rental place that rents to southern California? I've been looking for a while on the web and I can't seem to find anywhere that will rent me a quality DDR machine out here. |

Not to be mean or anything, but you'd probably get better answers to that question in the SoCal regional fourm.
Ask around there, they'd definatley know more than I would (especially since I'm near CHICAGO). |

i have some questions:
- theres a place with a machine in which the screen shakes from jumping. not because its screwed in or something. is that a problem from the monitor or the chip? i know its hard to understand what im saying because i havent seen it yet.
- is it possible to disassemble the speakers and monitor? and how about the marquee? can that be disassembled? im planning to get a machine and put it in the basement. my basement is just big enough to put the machine without the marquee (in length) and the door size is quite small. |

its most likely dealing with the monitor, because if the internal chip was loose, the whole machine would be acting up
and yes everything can be taken apart, i have seen a couple of ddr machines withou tthe top marquee |

If you're any good with drills and such, you may just be better off getting a piece of thick sheet metal and making one yourself. Just take measurements of the part, get some thick metal cut for that size, then drill out the holes yourslef
It would probably save you some money, and probably time. _________________

New player here. I've been playing for about a month now. Love the game a lot. Now my questions:
I've been playing in the arcade for about a week now, and my feet and part of my knee is killing me! It's painful to walk and bend. Is this normal for new players? and how long does it take to heal? Will it go away after I play more? Thanks in advance. Sorry if 3 questions is so much. |

Eh, that's really more of a Gameplay question, and this is a technical FAQ, but I'll help you out... because I'm a stand up moron.
Here's what you do:
Rest for a few days, Elevate you feet and knee, and use a warm wrap on them if they get sore. It sounds like you're hitting too hard with your feet, and it's causing them and your knee to hurt.
What you will want to watch out is if you PULL a muscle, liek your calf. I did that playing at home for a bit, so I waited a week and then I finally pushed into heavy.
Too Long; Didn't Read?
Take a break for 5 days. _________________

well, after asking here, some replied and someone answered me via PM. thank you by the way. ive gotten a different responses. heres what i asked:
it is possible to disassemble a ddr machine (ie: speakers, monitor, etc.)
i dont really mind if its not possible, but the dilemma is getting it into the basement. i think it is possible that it can fit, but i heard it is quite heavy (around 450 lbs.). i know i cant do it on my own. heck, i dont think my whole family is capable of bringing it down.
im buying a machine soon for a really good deal, its practically my only opportunity and im desperate to know a solution to this problem. i cant keep in the other rooms and my garage has too much crap (that are my dads). also, the basement is the only place where i can keep it because the monitor will flick from a vibration. if you want me to just go to the arcade, its around 30 min. to get there and my dad isnt getting any younger. hes 53.
heres a few questions:
-is that the actual weight of it?
-was anyone ever able to keep in their basement?
-if you can, can you tell me the length and width of your door so i can compare it to mine. i already know that the marquee is detachable.
-last, how you were able to bring it down? |

The biggest thing I can reccommend about getting this sucker down to the basement (dealing with the weight requirement, since the pads combined are 442 or so pounds, and the normal cabinet is about the same) is to take a cue from moving a dresser something with drawers in it.
Take anything inside the cabinet that you can out of it.
You'll definatley want to take off the front glass, any of the boards (write down what connections go where), and if you have the patience for it, the Monitor (not an easy task, if you do READ MY GUIDE AND/OR ASK someone ABOUT PROPER MONITOR REMOVAL TECHNIQUE). That should knock off a good chunk of the weight, if not more than 30%. Even if you don't get the monitor out, you (i think) can remove the top monitor enclosure from the rest of the cabinet.
When you move the pads down, take the bars off, and move the pads one at a time... additionally, if you have a furniture dolly (2-wheel cart) with a stair climber, it'll help you out immensley.
As far as I know, a lot of people who own acutal machines have them in the basement or a ground floor. The cabinet should fit sideways through a standard door frame, but you'll run into trouble if your basement stairs have a sharp bend in them. _________________

I've been having some trouble trying to get the mem slots working in the arcade machine I picked up. The mem slot advertisement shows up on the attract screen, so I know the unit is hooked up properly. My problem is that the small board with the card readers themselves is not connected to the base unit. To demonstrate, I've taken some photos:
back of the card slots (10-pin connector)
memory card unit inside the cabinet (6-pin and 8-pin connectors on the right side)
Can anyone describe the connection necessary using a pin diagram or by taking a photo of the missing wires? That would be extremely helpful. Thanks in advance. _________________

first off, nice 1P right button, lol. but i know the wires that would normally be there should go from the psx slots to the set of 8 pins on the decoder.
i don't know the pinout right now, i'll get it in the morning (i'm currently working on getting the slots working in one of our machines). i don't know how easy it would be to make a cable that would work for that, but i'm sure it's possible. as a last resort, you could solder the wires directly. _________________
