I was under the impression that all songs had at least Freestyle steps, and some have Nightmare...but the more I'm hearing about Exceed, the more bugs it sounds like arcade version has. I know ours, you can't enter high scores, there's supposedly a bug with the freezes as well, and we had to get the discs swapped out because the original one we got was messed up... _________________

The Freeze bug - is that where the freezes don't animate properly? It's like the big-line-of-arrows turns into a thin line as soon as you hit the freeze. The combo counter goes up properly though - it's just a graphics error.
Our local Exceed worked right initially, and then after a few weeks, the freezes stopped drawing properly.
Our machine takes high score tables fine though. I should know - I'm the only one on it, realistically speaking. That should tell you how many people play on it. >.> It's in a movie theatre in the middle of nowhere. _________________

It sounds to me like your Exceed definetly has some issues.. but some songs don't have any double steps at all. Before Premiere 2, it was pretty much depending on the individual song. (After that, all songs got all modes[except for half double and division in P2].)
And while a lot of the old songs were hard steps on two pads, that's hardly true for the newer ones. Compare the hard charts of songs like WDYRW and Caution to their freestyle counterparts and you'll kind of see what I mean.

In general terms -- I've never heard any of these songs, and thus am not trying to buy the one that has the most of my arcade favorites or something. I'm just wondering about things like: is one songlist heavier on the rap or dance pop or anything else like that? Are the difficulty levels radically different? Etc.
I'd been planning to import, but with news of the USA release, I might buy that instead, since I expect it'll be a lot cheaper, especially since I'd like 2 pads, as I play mostly doubles DDR at home. |
The Korean and USA versions are practically identical. Almost all of the new Exceed songs are there save for a few potential* pop casualties(Soca, XiBomBomBom, Shake It Up) and some absent classics.
That said, Pump's a mix of practically every main kind of genre you can imagine, except there isn't much in the way of happy hardcore, euro, trance. Most of the techno is either classical or hard in nature. Beyond that, there's metal, hiphop, rap, pop, dance, reggae, latin, classical.. sky's pretty much the limit. |

PIU may look sleek, but as far as the interface goes, it has *never* been "polished". The codes aren't ever consistent between versions, and there's no reason for them not to be.
Here's a question - will you actually be able to play doubles in this version? I asked around back when an Exceed hit my area, and nobody could figure out why Freestyle didn't work. |
probably was an old machine with problems updated to Exceed... anyhow doubles always worked on the machines I've played on.... also the codes from PREX2-Exceed 2 have been the same as Extra
Share the same codes :
Extra
PREX2
Premiere 3
PREX3
Exceed
Exceed 2
Share the same codes :
Premiere USA
Premiere Brazil
PREX
Rebirth
Premiere 2
(really old stuff) Share the same codes :
1st mix
2nd mix
OBG
OBG : SE
The Collection
Perfect Collection
Fusion
So for 5 mixes Andamiro have been using the same codes.... which are basically the codes from Technomotion. (PIU Extra was made by F2 systems) |

Do you know if PIU is going to have all the songs that are originally in Exceed? Or if they released a song list yet? _________________

Tux wrote: | i think what he meant by "doubles are like singles on both pads" is that it goes ACROSS the pads, and has similar patterns to the single mode - not that its like versus mode with the same step pattern on both sides SIMOTANEOUSLY | Nope. That's *exactly* what I meant. It's like versus mode with the same step pattern on both sides simultaneously.
To wit, it's *not* (as far as I can remember) the same steps as the single steps. It's like another set of single steps, on both sides of the pad. Baka of the Orochi wrote: | Read the entire topic please. | Yeah...he's pretty well known for *not* doing that. _________________

That's ok, good opportunity for me to mention an update.
TeamXbox has done a neat little writeup on Exceed's Xbox version, which can be viewed here:
Preview
But the far more interesting result is this.. we have images of the title discs for the new songs. Including ANOTHER new one not mentioned beforehand, "I Love You Baby" by Pandera(I think).
You can see the disc for Rapper's Delight off to the right (in blue), and I believe that's Name Of The Game off to the left(in red).
Also, there's going to be locked songs, as seen here:
This is shaping up to be a very interesting mix, if you ask me. And Let's Groove's BG looks sa-weet. _________________
