Hmm... all this makes me really glad that I am a PS2 user!

It seems that all these problems that are occuring with the c-boxes only affect X-Box, PC, and Mac. It appears as if no one (myself included) has had any problem with the PS2 connection.

So I would still say that if you are planning on using this pad with a PS2 that it is deffinately worth every cent. Ya just cant go wrong with the

"Afterburner + PS2 = Happiness!!"

formula E4.gif

so basically they should just put if your an xbox or comp user, screw you!!

I just ran into more problems with one of my pads disconnecting using the USB interface on a Mac running StepMania 3.9rc2. Unfortunately I mixed up the control boxes so I'm not sure if only one of my 2 boxes has the problem or if both do.

One of my pads started disconnecting consistently during the first song I tried to play. I did verify that quitting and relaunching StepMania did allow the pad to reconnect. Unplugging was not necessary, at least not on a Mac.

I took the pad that was consistently disconnecting and plugged it into my Playstation. So far no problems on the PS1. I'll keep trying it, but I think the problem is just with the USB interface. Since the same cable is used to connect to the XBox, this might explain the problem occurring on those platforms and not the PS1 or PS2.

Heh, the Xbox/Pc/Mac problems remind me of how the ROIgnition 2.0 had problems with Xbox.

Update: Well, I just went to play some Extreme JP and the Afterburner is dead. Only the Up and A Buttons work. This is some serious bullshit.

Same results with USB.

ok well for me durablility isn't really an issue.

I have an original RO metal pad, but i might exchange it for this by lying to them and saying it doesn't work even though it does. My problem with the RO is the responsiveness, i really have to hit the arrows hard to get them to respond. Another thing is that the upper right arrow (don't know what button it is). also works for the right arrow in addition to the right arrow. This is a problem for me because i feel like im cheating if i miss the right arrow and hit the other arrow by mistake and it still registers.

My question to every1 is, is this pad really responsive. Can u just tap the arrow to get it to respond or do u have to stomp on it

My Afterburner is extremely responsive! I barely have to touch my foot down on any of the arrows and they respond right away. So as far as responsiveness goes this is a really great pad I think.
Its deffinately just as responsive as a well maintained arcade machine for sure.
However the corner buttons (the sheet metal ones) arnt quite as responsive and you have to fully step down on them for them to trigger. Which isnt a problem to me because I only use them on the menus. Infact, it might help a bit having them less responsive if you are going to be playing the USA version of DDR Extreme where you cannot disable the corner buttons.

But yeah, this pad is way responsive. You shouldnt ever need to stomp with this one E4.gif

Hmm now I know never trust Redoctane with saying there pads are "great quality". Yea the pad might be very sensitive but if there are connection issues then screw this pad.

Hello,

Thank you for the email. The issue maybe with your PC. Try updating all your windows updates. Also please make sure you have the latest drivers for USB 2.0.

Thank you,
Service RedOctane

I have it and I will post my thoughts about the pad tomorrow. I've only got a couple songs in so far (I was watching the 24 finale).

I have yet to get mine but I asked if the problem will be fixed before I get mine and here's the responce:

Hello,
This is the new, redesigned version of the Metal pad. We expect that the
XBOX/PC connectivity issue will no be a problem.

My thoughts on the pad...

It's by far the best home pad I've ever played on. The arrows feel weird at first because it's not plexiglass like the arcade pad, but they're just as responsive.

Like any pad, it takes some time to get used to. It didn't take me long to break this sucker in. I can play the many forms that I know of without any problem.

Is it better than the Cobalt Flux? By far. Thea afterburner is just a better play all around.

I ordered mine on 5/20 should be here 5/27.
I don't have any experience with pre-built metal pads.
I have built my own, but it weighs about 100 pounds and I'm looking to do doubles.
I'll let you guys know how it works when it gets here.
I'll be using stepmania most likely.
(Although I do have an XBOX)

sounds like the only thing CF has on this thing is durability. I hope RO will exchange the original for the afterburner

Just an idea that popped into my head about the Afterburner not working properly on the PC:

Has anyone tried connecting the pad with an adaptor through the Playstation cable? I wouldn't really know yet as I don't have the pad or the adaptor.

Just a suggestion...
