I had to take my flip top off for GTA san andreas (it sounded like a rocket) but when I put it back on my PS2 is giving me 'not a valid CD' bullshit with my game. is my laser going? is there anything I can do to get it to read my game? (the only game I use it for is DDR Extreme JP and it's an original so it's not burned)

WTF?

My fliptop just arrived from Ps2cover.com(the one advertised on the first page) 113 days after my order. I didn't even think it was coming anymore...

Now here's an interesting question - would you have been happier if it never came at all? E10.gif

Are there any console versions with "Mr. Wonderful" on it?

Ok, I'm retarded, so please forgive my stupid questions. To play the import games on my PS2, would just a flip top cover and swap magic disks work? Something like this... http://www.divineo.cn/cgi-bin/div-cn/ps2-smuftv12.html
Or would a modchip work better? Like this... http://www.modchip.com/ps2/magicvorder.htm
The modchip looks better, but how do I install it or would I have to have someone else install it?
Also, I don't have a GameShark so I can't get anything that requires it.
Sorry if this is asked a lot, or is an obvious question. I'm not a noob to DDR, but I am to imports. And unfortunately I've been missing out. Thank you so much!! ♥

EDIT:// I've been researching & I thought I was learning for a minute... But now I'm even more confused. What exactly is "knife swap?" Do I need it to run a flip top? Will it cost me more money?
I AM AN IDIOT and would just like the simplest way to run import disks. Originals, not copies. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

fliptop is a good idea if your PS2 is relatively new, as it's the safest for the laser. the 'knife' method is hogwash, you basically pull the tray over the motor and pull it out, put the swap disk in and push it back. The problem with it is you can destroy your tray motor. One downside of the fliptop is I bought it and I loved it until the PS2 died, now I have to find a new 'old' PS2 that fits the version of flip top I have. If you do decide on the fliptop order from www.ps2fliptop.net as they actually ship fast and reliably, www.ps2cover.com either don't ship or ship half a year late, whichever they decide.

Hello, i would like an expert to give me their opinion on what i should do.

my problem is that i recently bought a pre-modded PS2 model SCHP-39005 NTSC-J. the owner said it has a "messiah" chip in it. thats all i could get out of his korean accent. (couldnt understand it too much)

it loads up all my jap and us ps2 games but only loads my jap PS1 games. it does not load up konamix or any other american game i have for PS1 (thank god it loads 5th mix).

i would like to know your past experiences and possible solutions to this problem as i have been trying to play konamix for a while.

Thanks in advance

Question:

I have a Flip-top mod on my PS2. Are there any discs out there that will let me play all of the PS1 import DDR games? I got Breaker Pro only to find out that it doesn't work with two of my games, and from what I read on a previous page, it doesn't work with 5th mix either. I got screwed over by ConsoleSource.com and am now stuck with a piece of crap Breaker Pro disc, since they won't let me return it in the exact condition I bought it in.

This serves as a note to everyone: do not buy from ConsoleSource.com if you want to have the option of returning for a refund.

Anyways... Is there such a disc out there?

I just started using my magic Slide, swap magic 3 and it seems to be working very well. Can anyone tell me if there is a downside to having this kind of swap disc?

I have a PS2 with a fliptop mod. I want to be able to play PS1 imports. I've done my research and found out that I am not able to play my 2 appends, but I still haven't found out how to do all other mixes. I have a Breaker Pro, but I read that it does not work with 5th mix, which is the mix that I'm most likely to buy next.

From what I've read, it seems that GameShark is the way to go. However, which version will I need? It seemed like I need GameShark Lite, is this correct? Also, are the codes in the Import Games Discussion Thread for GameShark, and will they work with whatever version of GameShark I need to use?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

OK OK people STOP trying to play your PS1 imports on your PS2. Find an old model PS1 and make sure it has the I/O Port in the back. These run for about 15 dollars now. Then find a Game Enhancer or Goldenfinger that plugs into the I/O Port. Insert the codes found on DDRFreak.com for your PS1 games. And every PS1 game will work flawlessly. Appends are another story but if you have an old enough PS1 you can get them to work with a swap trick. beerchug.gif

Hoookay, time to ask the experts.

I've been trying to run DDR Extreme JP on my US PS2, using a slimtool and Swap Magic 3.6 (DVD). The game loads okay, but I run into a problem with - I think - the memory check. I get past the Konami title, then see a question in japanese with two answers, i'm guessing "no savegame found, do you want to create one?" Yes/No. Choosing either answer gets me a second shorter question with the same two answers ("are you sure?" Y/N). Choosing either answer this time flashes a brief message with the words OFF and PS2, presumably "saving... don't turn off your ps2", then I am taken back to the first question. And repeat.

I've tried all four combinations of answering these questions, every boot mode Swap Magic offers, and have googled the four corners to no avail. I thought at first my memory card was incompatible, but found on these boards that memory cards are regionless and can contain both US and JP savegames at the same time. I've tried two different cards both with free space and no sign of corruption. Sooooo... am I just doing something exceedingly stupid? What could the problem be?

Thank you - any ideas would be MOST appreciated!

Are you pressing the O button. Japan games use O as the selecter and X as the cancel button.
