3.0 is supposed to be released April 14 at EBGames for $99.99 ($10 less than what RO is selling it!). ITG comes out May 9 and is selling for $39.99 MSRP.
The bundle can only be found on RO's website as of now. _________________

I bought an ignition 2.0 pad. It works wonderfully, except, every 2 minutes it freezes - and stops sending any foot movements for about 15 seconds, then it resumes as if nothing happened. I've tried pushing all the steps, including back and start during these freezes, but it doesn't help. It's frozen in songs, it's frozen while on the settings menu, or the music select menu....
I'm very disappointed by this. The pad is great when it works but you can't get a good grade on any song with a 15 second no-step period!
Edit: this problem occurs when using the xbox. |

Sounds like you have the same problem everyone else does; it doesn't really work with the Xbox. Mine started doing weird things like you're describing at first, then the down arrow completely died, but only on Xbox.
I just got my replacement pad from Red Octane after sending back my broken one (some sort of short that it wouldn't work at all on the PS2). I noticed that the cord is shorter. Does this mean it's a newer (or older) model, possibly with the Xbox problems worked out? |

My aunt is going to the States in a few weeks and Iâd like her to bring back an ignition pad for me. Anyone know the approximate dimensions and weight of an an ignition soft pad in the box?
Thanks. |

!@#!@$!$!@$
My second ignition pad died.
This one lasted 20 days. The down arrow stopped working when the right arrow was pressed. I use the xbox.
I returned THAT one to best buy, went to ebgames, bought another.... but they don't offer the warranty anymore! Plus they only have a 2 week return period.
I ended up buying another 2.0, not realizing the 3.0 was going to be in the store in 3 days...
I just called the store manager and they WILL take my pad back and get me a reserve on a 3.0, but I feel very down now. All I want to do is play dance dance revolution! I'm buying one of the so-called "best" soft pads on the market, I can't get a cobalt flux cause I use the xbox, and it just sucks sucks sucks.
I am so disappointed with the 2.0 series.
If the weaselly guy at EBgames keeps to his word and lets me return it tomorrow and get a preorder, hopefully the 3.0 will be better, but I am very sad and upset over this. |

Update:
Ebgames let me return it no problems.
The good news is I was so upset last night, my husband and I had a long talk about it... and he's cool with getting a metal pad. He's a wonderful guy, really he is. He actually brought the topic up first, saying I shouldn't waste money on another soft pad. Horray for wonderful men.
Do the RO metal pads really show up as controllers in xbox live? Gah.
I'm deciding now between the Afterburner, or waiting for an xbox cobalt flux. But that's now drifting into other topics so I'll keep this Ingition 2.0 specific.
Specifically: Don't buy them for the xbox. They don't work. At least, neither of the 2 I got did. And for 100$ a pop, you deserve something that at least works for longer than 20 days, when played 1 hour a day barefoot by a light player who can barely pass 5's. |

tepp, you've shown more patience with RO than I have. Their customer service and quality control (or lack thereof) has turned me off as a future customer.
I bought a .99 cent soft pad off of eBay, duct-taped it over the foam pads from my current crap RO Ignition, and that has worked out better for a longer time.
The saddest thing is that the original RO Ignition 2.0 (LED lights, 3 foam pads, PS2 only) was probably the best non-metal pad ever. |

So lets say we have the Xbox problem. Would buying a PS2 -> Xbox adapter make it work? |

I think it would, but it may have lag because of the latency. It'd show up as a controller on Xbox Live. _________________

Hello.
My name is Tepp, Destroyer of Ignition 2.0 pads.
Yes, I killed Ignition 2.0 pad #3 last night. It lived a mere 20 minutes. I was trying to A Burning Heat (3 option mix) on standard when the down arrow quit working.
I wasn't expecting to get this pad, I sent my first Ignition pad back to the online seller on April 9th. (#2 was bought straight from best buy) Monday, as I came home, there was an Ignition pad box on my doorstep, waiting for me. Rather than refund my money, they sent me another one. It would have been great, except.... this one died within minutes.
Straight out of the box, the center box was misfiring down and right arrows like mad. I had to stand on a corner to get the select screen to work. Then, 20 minutes into my 1 hour workout, the down arrow just quit responding.
I thought of your advice, Fourtyseven... I took the foam mat out, put it inside my Konami XBOX original orange and green pad (the stay cool one).... and whala, I got my A on Burning Heat Standard. On the first try too. Then A'd Abyss on standard for an encore... woo hoo. It seems to be a bit fuzzy - I get more greats on this pad than I did on the ignitions, but all arrows are responding. And a great instead of a perfect is only 2 missed points, where as a boo instead of a perfect is 12 missed points.... so my scores were higher even though my perfect ratios were lower.
So I'm not going to return this pad, I think. I'll keep the foam for my other pad and hope it holds out. I ordered an afterburner, which should arrive ... I dunno... whenever. So if this hack can keep on working until the afterburner arrives, I'll be one happy fatty.
Plus, I'm tired of arguing with this internet merchant over these pads... It took a lot of arm twisting to get the RMA for the last pad. I'll just swallow the cost of the Ignition 2.0 as a lesson in buying things on the internet... |

Bleh. I just returned my Ignition 2.0 that I bought last night because this morning when I played it, it didn't work. It was dead out of the box. I'm going to go try it out now, the replacement from EB. _________________

Despite all of the warnings on this thread, last night I walked into EBGames and bought the "Ignition" pad they had on the upper shelf, which is apparently a 2.0. Why did I do this? Simple:
1. I talked to the guy running the store (the only one there) and he said that the pad would work with XBox. Due to some of the posts in this thread, I don't expect that to be totally true. However, he said it would (and it's on the receipt as "IGNTN PD PS2/XB") so I've got that backing me in case of failure.
2. I bought the $10 warranty that's good for a year. I asked him to describe it in detail. Here's what he said:
- For the first 14 days they automatically warranty anything they sell, so if the pad broke in the first 14 days then I'd just take it in and get a free replacement.
- The warranty covers anything that breaks, rips, or doesn't work in any other way. For up to a year, I'll be able to replace this pad. I noticed that the warranty said a "one time replacement". He said it means if the pad lasts longer than 14 days, but breaks before a year is up, then I bring it back in and use the warranty to get one new pad. However, at the time I get the new pad I'll be able to buy another warranty, which will warranty the new pad for a full year (the 14 day free warranty also applies) that starts at the time of replacement.
- If EBGames starts carrying the Ignition 3.0, then I can come in and use my warranty to exchange for an Ignition 3.0 (at which point I can purchase another warranty for $10).
SO ....
The conclusion that I drew is that if EBGames gives me Ignitions that break within 14 days, then I'll get free replacements. Any time an Ignition lasts longer than 14 days, it'll cost me $10 to replace the $100 pad. Sounds like a pretty good deal, even though I might have to go through the trouble of making exchanged once in a while. I hope they start carrying the Ignition 3.0 soon. |

I love the Ignition pad. I've had mine for about a month and a half now.
Just today, I started to realize that when I unzipped the thing, the pad was ripping. Does this happen to everyone? Is there any way to prevent this? Thanks. |

I bought the same warranty for my 2.0. The guy knows me there and said that even if it says one time replacement, he'll return it to me as many times as long as it's within the one year period. Yet, he said he can't let me buy any more warranties as you can only buy one at the time of purchase of the original item. _________________

I'm now on my second 2.0 pad. The first one lasted for about a month, but raised buttons started moving all over the pad, and any attempts to fix it just pushed them further towards the center. I got a replacement under the manufacturer's warranty (it was long past EB's return policy at that point) and I'm a little wary about this happening again.
Is there any way to secure the pads in place so this doesn't happen again? |

|

I unzipped my RO ignition 2.0 to reveal some tearing of the inner membrane and the contact material inside. I took some pictures to illustrate the damage:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/cmeador/tags/ignition/
The problems I am having are as follows: The pad isn't as responsive as it used to be. All arrows seem functional, but yield lots of misses when you try to do a song. Sometimes they seem dead except in particular spots, like the far edge of the button.
The pad is just out of warranty, and it has seen some fairly heavy (but careful) use since I got it in early March. I'm really tall and so pretty heavy (230) and I practiced from early beginner to 7s and 8s, plus I took it to a few DDR parties and other people did some 9s and 10s on it.
I'm probably going to buy a metal pad next, but is there anything I can do to try to fix this in the meantime? I'm on vacation at my parents' and have a lot of free time (and access to some tools), so I could do something fairly involved... However first I need a good explanation of how the pad works and some speculation about things I can do to try to fix it.
PS, I checked FAQs and tried to load http://www.ddr-pad-fix.tk/ which is unavailable, but I couldn't find the info I am looking for. |

Well, after 14 days (roughly 7 days of use) my Ignition 2.0 pad started failing. There wasn't any visible damage, but the 'down' arrow became increasingly difficult to trigger, and when it did trigger it would trigger multiple times in a row.
I took the pad in (since it was under the 14-day free replacement window) and the EB games store replaced it with an Ignition 3.0 off the shelf. Now all of my arrows work, but the Ignition 3.0 seems to be less sensitive and have a tad more delay than my Ignition 2.0 had. |

My RO Ignition has been giving me random fires of buttons. When I tried to change event mode to on on my DDR Extreme, I'd push O to confirm that setting. I'd then push O and it'd just confirm and put me back in. It'd automatically fire and get pushed repetively. The X button is the same. :[
This is my second pad and I must return it today/tonight. =/ I think I just killed the pad. I was playing too many songs and I am quite heavy. I'm 185-190ish now and have been playing quite a lot of 10s.
I'm just happy that I have the warranty and who knows - I may get a 3.0 in replacement. _________________
