Well, unless they don't let us take pictures or anything, I'm sure pics and news about it will sneak out after the pre-release party..if any of us who go don't get so drunk we forget it all (or maybe that is their plan)

Dear In The Groove Fans and Supporters

In The Groove Gold Master Disks have been approved by Sony QA and being entered into manufacturing. Expect to see an official press release regarding going gold and announcing a street date shortly.

Regrettably I have to announce that the edit functionality has been removed from In The Groove for the PlayStation 2. We have replaced “Edit Mode” with "Practice Mode." This new mode lets players select sections of every step chart in the game to practice and train. We can not give details as to why the edit mode functionality was removed, other than it was for "business reasons." Roxor, RedOctane and SCEA were all committed to making it happen but it was a decision at the "12th hour" to remove it. The fact is that it was fully working in the game and was not removed because of bugs or scheduling.

I'm writing this letter to you all because of we believe that this game will not be successful without the support of all of you. We wanted the fans to hear this news from us first and not any other source.

Despite this feature, we believe that In The Groove for the PlayStation 2 has come together in terrific form. We feel that both dance game fans and In The Groove arcade fans alike will be very happy with the PlayStation 2 version of In The Groove.

Well, no edit mode is okay, I guess. It goes right along with "No USB support."

I sure hope we get edit mode and USB support by ItG2forPS2. >:/

I wonder what the rush is? Edit mode is pretty substantial; some people live off Edits, and they add infinite replay value. If it was fully working in the game, I'm sure it would have taken no more than a few days to fix whatever was wrong, or even a week, but I'd be willing to wait that long for it. Well, as long as the rest of the game is solid, bug-free, and complete. It'll be inexcusable if there are signs of rushing in the actual game, though I'm pretty confident there won't be.

If they're claiming edit mode was removed for "business reasons", (and we're willing to give benefit of the doubt that it truly was a business, not a technical, decision) it makes me wonder what those reasons are. Is it possible their edit mode ended up strikingly similar to Konami's edit mode, and top brass decided that whatever agreement they have with Konami over the dancing game concept and look didn't extend to edit mode, meaning they might have to fight that battle all over again? Or maybe the lack of USB support on the PS2 means they didn't want to field calls from players asking "why can't I transfer my edit to the USB device so I can use it in the arcade?"

So I found information as to why we won't have edit mode on ITG any time soon... Konami indeed has licenses on it -_-

You may have hit the nail right on the head. Konami might have bitch-slapped Roxor with a patent infringement suit had Roxor put Edit Mode in ITG.

Please note, I'm NOT stating this as ABSOLUTE FACT. I'm not a patent lawyer, and there are ways to work around a patent. Roxor's legal team would be the only ones who would know anything for sure, and it's obvious they're not telling, nor are they going to.

Still, I wouldn't be too surprised if this indeed was the case. I hate to go off on a tangent here, but do you think this might affect the PS2 version of Pump It Up: Exceed as well? Assuming, of course, they're planning to put an Edit Mode in that game as well.

The EBGames website says it'll be shipped on the 10th. They'll get it ont he 11th. Yet at some EBs I've been to they've been saying it ships on the 11th and arrives on the 12th or 13th.

Oh and where on the Roxor Forums does it say that?

Hello.....newbie ITG player here.....just wonderin about the songlist for ITG home version. I heard earlier in this thread it's the same as the arcade version songlist? But.....which songs are those? riiight.gif I haven't played at arcades ITG either. Sorry.

And....a question for those general ITG players: Can you tell me your description of the ITG songlists? Are they like the DDR songlists in that they have lots of trance, techno, etc. songs? Or....more americanized stuff. I have no idea what I'm saying but hopefully somebody else can understand it.

www.inthegroove.com

You can find the songlist there. It's the exact one from the arcade. You can even listen to the songs on that website too. It's mostly eurodance and trance, yet the songlist varies more.

According to all game sites, ITG should be out today. Can anyone confirm that it is? Or should we keep waiting paitiently?
