Well, so far I've lost about 30 pounds doing this. I started off at 215, and now I weigh 186. I've found that the best way to lose weight is to watch what you eat, play ddr alot, and make sure that every week you check your progress. So here we go. Every Friday we can all report here with our Starting weight, our Weight as of last Friday, and our Current weight. So right now, I'll start off new and put my starting weight as 186, and I'll post every friday where I'm at.

Here's an example of a post on Friday:

Starting Weight: 215
Weight as of last Friday: 190
Current Weight: 186

If the mods think this is stupid, then lock it, otherwise, I think it might help out those of you that are trying to rely on DDR to lose weight like I am.

I don't mean to divert traffic, but both GetUpMove.com and DDR4Health.com might be better places for this. For the most part, it seems like the DDRFreak forums are 75% hostile to the topic of DDR and weight loss.

That's a purely subjective observation, though.

... The physical benefits were always there; it didn't suddenly change from a game to a workout.

It still is changing too fast for my taste...

But here is my weight blah stuff:

Starting: 110
Now: 110

I got like a foot taller but I have gotten skinnier as I got older thanks to DDR. I'm like 5' 9" and I'm a twig.

It's okay to start threads there. E1.gif

But this one is in progress and picking up steam, so... nevermind.

No offence Sinister, but DDR4Health is a ghosttown. 5 threads max in each discussion forum... eep. Way too quiet for my tastes.

I do my weigh-ins on Saturday.

A lady never reveals her weight, however, but I will reveal my weight changes... I am trying to stick to a 1500 calorie diet and do DDR for 1 hour 5 times a week. My main problem right now is my pads keep dying. I've got an afterburner on pre-order, I hope my current pad lives until it arrives.

Weight on April 23: xx5.5
Weight on April 30th: xx2.0 (loss of 3.5 pounds)

My apologies for not revealing my weight. I am a fatass, and I'm an insecure fatass who can't stand sharing that info. However, for those who would mock my fatass, I may add that if I sit on you it will hurt. So (cartman voice) respect my authoritah! laugh.gif

The weight reading of April 30th is a bit skewed as I was having my period (water loss). I suspect either no weight loss or minimal weight loss my next weigh-in.

I have been doing DDR for over a month now, 1 hour a day 5 x a week, but I only have been weighing for the past 2 weeks.

However, in this month, I have developed calves of steel and truely scary leg muscles. I think this is a plot to help move my fatass into a position of world domination.... laugh.gif

Well.

I weighed myself this morning. Despite playing hard all week and keeping a strict diet, I didn't loose at all... I didn't gain either....

It's because I had my period last week, but grrr, I hate the scale now.

So I went to my backup measuring plan. The too-tight jeans. In the two weeks since I last measured using them, they went from being too tight to wear to being okay. They used to hurt so badly I could only tolerate them for an hour, today, I wore them all day. They're still a little tighter than I'd like though.

So at least there was some progress.

wait... how tall are you? are you even fat?

If you aren't I don't think you should try to lose more weight if you aren't oveweight.

Ugh don't weigh yourself every week. It is very discouraging. You should only be lossing 1-2 lbs a week, as that is what is healthy. Any more means you aren't eating enough to keep yourself healthy. So maybe you guys trying to lose weight should weigh yourself every month. Or biweekly.

What everyone is saying is right. It's a game and it's only a side-effect if you lose weight.

I have to say I know that losing the wieght by a few pounds is the way it's supposed to be. I've been playing since nov 2004 and I've lost 55 pounds, I wieght myself almost every week and I don't care what it says as long as it declines and my clothes need to be held on with pins. (my waist is 4 inches smaller, I went from a XXL to a large a LARGE) I play mainly to have fun. I love this game and the wieght I lose is just gravy... but it's good gravy biggrin.gif
started: 280
last week: 140
current: 135

Incorrect. Exercise is key to a healthy diet. So is food intake reduction.

It is a game. So is soccer, football, hockey, competitive swimming, synchronized swimming, horseback riding, badmitton, tenis, basketball, baseball, dogeball, monkey-in-the-middle...

But any form of physical exercise can help one loose weight. The fact that it's fun makes it easier to do, but it is exercise.

My sister is doing Tai-Chi as her exercise... I am doing DDR... the surgeon general recommends 90 minutes of exercise a day for weight loss. 30 minutes a day to maintain a healthy weight. I must confess, I cannot do 90 minutes a day... frown.gif

I am going to whip out the old scale.
*Finds*

I haven't made any changes to my diet as of yet. I want to see how much I can loose without a different calorie intake, and then see the difference when I do watch my meals.

I can be really unhealthy some days, and others I won't eat anything that hasn't come from a seed. I'm weird that way.

But just a note to everyone trying to get fit from DDR: don't only take your weight to learn your progress. Look in the mirror. I believe in seeing a difference, rather than reading one. And who knows, if you gain a few more pounds it could be muscle, not fat, so don't get discouraged. If you want to go all out, invest a few dollars in a measuring tape.

Now, I will just start with my current weight seeing as I haven't been keeping track.

CW: 129lb (Or at least I would think such, my damn scale is a piece of crap.)

I haven't had much time for DDR though. So much school and working. But in summer, I know I will have much more free time to play. I also want to learn guitar.

None taken. Well, except for calling me Sinister. E1.gif

GetUpMove is also a low traffic site. It seems to be that people who play DDR for exercise aren't nearly as vocal as people who make it their life, which is as it should be, but it does mean that conversation around this niche within a niche tends to be sporadic.

I'd just as soon see a DDR Exercise forum here and dump my time into that, but as I've said earlier, there is a history here of hostility towards DDR as a form of exercise.
