|
|
I've been playing DDR for 10 months now, and I can pretty much do any song as long as it isnt a Max song on heavy (though i did do Max 300 once). I used to be able to play for a good hour and have no body pains (though would be very tired and out of breath). So, come new years time, i was kinda out of playing it, so i started again, and i still was able to play. So, I was off of it for a few weeks, started playing again, and after the first song, my feet, ankles, and legs killed sooo bad. If i do even 3 songs now on heavy, my legs hurt for a good week. Why is this happening to me??? what did i do? My cousin hasn't played for a while, and he said his legs dont hurt though....grrr....can't even play my favorite game....and suggestions as to why i hurt so much now? |

I would guess that you just need to start playing a little under your usual just to get your body used to playing again. Then work back up to your full potential. _________________

try new shoes... the padding on your current ones being worn out could be a cause....
lactic acid perhaps?

Don't forget to stretch before and after you play! Warm up your muscles first. If you get on the pad and haven't done much before and start playing a heavy song after not playing for a couple of weeks then you are going to hurt. |

yeah but the thing is, i've done this before...i was doing all heavy songs, quit for a few weeks, and got right back into it. For some reason, my legs decided they would hurt after i started again, even though i'm still pretty active without the game...i don't play with shoes either, i have a 1" thick pad.
Someone suggested something with nutrients at my school...but, i dont eat differently than i used to...i'm just hoping i didnt hurt myself during those times i didnt play...and i do stretch...i couldnt forget that. |

Welcome to my world
I seem to hurt myself on a daily basis... twisted ankles, sprained feet, muscle aches, legs spasms... I don't know why, other than I'm fat and out of shape. I play for an hour a day every day but I never seem to get rid of the pain.
I just play anyway. I've lost 3 pounds so far, but some days the pain is real annoying.
Hot baths help. Also I use a heating pad when I twist an ankle.
Ibprofin....
I'm buying a hardpad to replace my softpad. I think it will help with the pain as I will be able to play in shoes.... get some arch support for my feet.
I'm a fatass, but I'm a fatass with dedication..... |

Well...I'm not fat (thought I look skinny, i have more of a stomach than most think)...but I don't know why it's happening, but didnt before...i had periods of no ddr playing, and then would get back into it...but i never felt pain...now i do, and i didnt do anything out of the ordinary
maybe I just need to get back in shape...and i did notice that playing with shoes on metal pads helps....hmm....
i need to put my hot tub to use...i don't think my water bed helps with my muscles either, does it? |

Your muscles hurt because of lactic acid, which is the burning feeling in your body.
Because of lack of oxygen in your body, lactic acid replaces it.
You should stretch and warm up before you play.
Also, take deep breaths when you get that feeling.

Your muscles hurt because of lactic acid, which is the burning feeling in your body.
Lactic acid forms in your body because of lack of oxygen.
You should stretch and warm up before you play DDR to prevent cramps.
Also, if you feel that feeling, take deep breaths to replace that acid.

yeah, but why would it just NOW start happening? i've played for 11 months now...and about 3 or 4 months ago is when it started (and by then i could do most heavy songs and play for a couple hours straight)...i'm so mad because I get worse and worse because my legs hurt so freaking much
I do stretch, I do breath correctly, I do try to play to build up my muscles (which doesnt help), shoes/better support on feet/legs doesnt help...I'm doing nothing differently than what I used to do besides that I can only do about 2 songs now (as opposed to many many songs)...it kinda happened randomly, and i didnt do anything to start it
I think i'll just get my legged checked out... |

Whenever you do any sort of working out your muscle cells are broken down and worked...as others have said when there is a lack of oxygen lactic acids take place of that oxygen...that said...I just started DDR yesterday(yeah I'm a n00b) but my leg muscles start to hurt after about half an hour...just as they do when I'm training at Tae Kwon Do...and usually after a good streching and a bit of relaxation it's fine...theres really nothing wrong with you...it's natural for soreness to occur, even if it's never happend in the past...no pain no gain... _________________
