Hola everyone. I'm not sure how long this thread will last, because I'm sure many will lose interest (and I hope I'm not going against the site and having this be locked), but I'm curious to know what you think about this song list I put together for a PS2 DDR comeback. | That would be a good mix except there is no Legend of Max. Also, Konami don't like making good American mixes so this would have to be a Japanese mix. |

1. LoM was already on EXUS
2. Are you kidding? ExtremeUS/MaxUS ruled. And wouldn't you LIKE there to be a good US mix? sheesh
3. and since when did konami not "like" making good US mixes? I'm sorry that they dob't give you carbon copiesof the japan mixes, but that doesn't mean they don't like making good mixes. *points to MaxUS and ExtremeUS*
I think the songlist rules...but it needs more songs from solo. And less linkin park. And Sync Love is a liscence, therefore cannot be unlockable.

Wow, you sure like US versions too much. Max was OK, but Extreme wasn't the best, at least not compared to the Japanese one. |

Hm, you know I never knew that licensed songs can't be unlocks. I just put them in the "secrets/unlockables" category to be songs that everyone had been wanting or popular songs that are worked hard for to get and to be surprises.

I like the looks of most of the stuff included on this theoretical songlist, though some of the more obscure Dancemania stuff might be harder to get ahold of (especially in the case of Lupin the 3rd '78, where there's a whole other can of licensing worms to deal with there)
As for the other american licenses, well I realize they have to be there to draw in the other non-ddr players to the game. The trick is getting the right ones.
But for the most part I like what I see, its alot like the list I proposed for Uiru some time ago...

Yes, but name another mix that had a licensed song as an unlockable. This is a one-of-a-kind unlock and extremely rare to happen. |

anyway i want a home version to be hard as hell. i know thats not good for everyone tho. just my opinion because i dont play at home on the pad i play CCR lol
i dont like ANY home pads, thats why im gonna get ITG home version
so i cant play that hard ****
but anyway, i would like to see paranoia respect on a home version
and arcade timing, but thats a different thread.
oh and i would love seeing captain jack grandale mix, and hero grandale, and butterfly upswing, and furuhatas theme, but those are almost no chances for an american home version. |

Hint - too many PARANOiA's. Take PARANOiA Survivor 280 out and replace it with bag. That's a song that we need on a home version (not sure if it already is; but it would kick ass on this one).

Nay on that one. Use either SP-Trip Machine (jungle mix) or Burning Heat (3 option mix).
We have way too many Max's already. So Deep (Perfect Sphere Remix) would be good.

Bag is on japanese Extreme home version but no amercian version, i have extreme japanese, and bag got tired so fast lol. |

Also, I was under the impression that La Bamba was a cover (like Do Me and Enter the Dragon and such) and thus was fair game, since it was a Bemani crossover in Extreme JP, and to my knowledge every other one of them was a KO.
Good list. Also, don't be afraid of 90-ish songlists; IIDX and Pop'n have been at that and breaking it for several mixes now.

Overall, I like the list, but I think there are a couple of things that need to go. First off- Linkin Park. Barring my opinion of their music from the conversation, I can't see how you could make a fun and challenging stepchart to Breaking the Habit. Challenging, maybe. But the steps would probably be bad. Next- Britney Spears' Toxic. Britney's got her own music game, let's keep her out of DDR. =P Also- AM-3P 303 Bass Mix. This song isn't bad, but I've listened to it, and I really struggle to hear the difference between this song and the original AM-3P. Make it the AM East remix from Max2, though, and it's a deal. I'd replace the two songs I threw out with two Daft Punk songs: Daft Punk's Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger and the CJ Crew remix of One More Time from Dancemania Speed 9. Other than that, I think this song is a great mix of favorites from the Japanese mixes, new material, and old favorites. I have to say I especially like the inclusion of stuff by X-Treme (A Minute rules. One of my favorite songs from Max2 that sadly only appeared in the arcade version), more unusual Beatmania stuff (not just stuff like V that everyone voted to have in DDREX when it was being developed) and cool Dancemania licenses.
I have a tough time deciding what to say on Utada Hikaru's Simple and Clean being in there. On the one hand, Eyes on Me (Almighty Mix) did appear on a Dancemania CD and almost ended up on 5th Mix IIRC, but of course licensing issues killed that one. Being that licensing would probably screw up Simple and Clean as well, I'd take another route and include another Utada dance remix- either Automatic (Johnny Vicious Remix) or the dance remix of First Love I found (don't know its official name). I'd say Hikari (Godson mix), but Hikari was used in the Japanese version of Kingdom Hearts so I don't think that'd fly.
Like I said, though, great list overall. I'd love to see Abyss ~The Heavens Mix~ in DDR.  |

Yeah, I knew a couple of tracks I put up there would probably make ya cringe -- *cough* Britney *cough* -- but I put certain tracks there for the fact that these songs are "tolerable", but not necessarily great, though I do like BREAKING THE HABIT. All of the US DDRs have had a few songs put in the mix that weren't that great, but still somewhat tolerable...celebrate, think ya better D, and Like A Virgin come to my mind right off the bat.
As for the other songs (returning), I chose most of those because they were in Konamix or they haven't had their "challenge steps" version put in at home (US) yet. Most of the songs that I put up there have a reason for being there because of what I've seen other players say, what has previously been at home, and what's fairly popular out now, as well as my own personal choices. IMO, what I listed is a list that could technically really be a home release -- minus SIMPLE AND CLEAN...  I'm glad that all of ya like it so far, and that really nothing I listed is unreasonable -- *cough* E-ROTIC *cough*. But by all means, more opinions welcome.

"Like them too much?" Uh huh. Maybe you just like the japanese versions too much and don't like the US versions because they're not carbon copies of them? And how is thinking that three good mixes(UM2, MAXUS, and EXUS) are awesome liking them too much? EXUS was split, people either loved it or didn't like it(a lot of the times because it had *GASP* OPTIONAL eyetoy games or *GASP*CHANGED THE INTERFACE), but just about everyone agrees MAXus/UM2 were awesome mixes.
I still think people rate the US games by much higher standards than the JP games. |
