i think it wont die as long as something new comes out....whatever it is be it a arcade mix, home mix, whatever. i dont know about you guys but im getting tired of the same old songlist in MAX2 and im actually beginning to appreciate EXTREME more...i used to hate it cause i got bored of the songs also. but anyways, im praying for something new

If you are tired of Max2 and to me Extreme USA sux. You should consider modifying your ps2 and play Jap games. Way better. Just like the arcade. I moded my ps2 with a fliptop and love it.

Its popularity (or lack thereof) really doesn't concern me. I'll play as long as I feel like it.

DDR is losing popularity in the arcades, but it is gaining popularity in the home. The past year has seen a flurry of news coverage regarding DDR as a fitness platform, schools are adopting it for use in phys ed, parents want to know where to buy pads for their kids. I think that DDR still has some life in it yet, but not as the clique-ish counter-culture experience that a lot of people fondly remember.

It is moving well out of its "cool because nobody knows about it" phase and is becoming much more widely known. To some, that mainstream acceptance signals its death.

But I have to agree with Nyanko on this one. I, too, will play it as long as I feel like it.

I'm a freshman at my high school. Next year, there are supposed to be a wave of DDR players. My DDR club will hopfully prevent DDR from dying for years to come. I'm going to play DDR for the talent show. That might help. E13.gif

It is getting more popular by the day, due to the extreme commercialization that came along with the home versions. Hundreds of new players are going to be coming in the future. However, the die-hards who have been playing for a number of years and have AAAd everything and are tired of playing are converting over to ITG. So hopefully DDR will last a long time, and I REALLY hope that ITG does not take over.

Cause hands were not meant to be used in dancing arcade games.

I always have a chronic fear of DDR dying. That's why I came here...cause I'm so desperate for a DDR comeback.

Aye, I can't stand to use more than my feet unless I freestyle, it's just...impossible for me. Hell, I can't even do hands/feet mode in home Extreme. It's like shuffle, extra stuff to worry about.
