i'm sure this has been done a million times, but which simulator do you prefer? i'm currently running an older version of DWI (2.3???). the reason i ask is i'm saving up to buy a new pc, and i'm planning to install one of the two simulators. the main question is, how often do both simulators get updated? i feel more comfortable with the dwi updates, but then again, i have no idea what SM has to offer. so, please help. it would be greatly appreciated.

SM gets updated all the time, DWI hasn't been updated in FOREVER. Plus SM has much better features and stuff IMO, it just takes a fairly good comp to run it well.

I've played both and Stepmania is better. Very nice to have just about every song from every mix with many official background videos, the Extreme Theme, the Extreme Announcer, most all of the official characters in addition to Oni and Nonstop modes and a decent song editor. (Don't ask about how or where I got it, that's something more for a PM)

Of course this is an opinion and therefore open for debate. I'd love to hear of a good DWI setup out there.

It is important to note that the last Stepmania update was November 8th of 2004...so nearly 6 months as of this post...which is an eternity in DDR time...unless someone else is releasing new mixes of Stepmania out there...in which case I'd LOVE to know if there is.

All that stuff, plus it's online enhanced.

I prefer Stepmania because it's, IMO, a lot more customizable, and it doesn't have that problem where it ignores 0's at the beginning of a simfile (meaning it does a song like Moonlight Shadow properly). My computer runs SM with a few small problems, so I should probably be using DWI for a smoother play experience, but I can live with it.

I'm going to have to plug www.stepmaniaonline.com right now.

Yeah, sorry...

AMxJM, PM me if you want and I can suggest some Operating System tweaks to get it to possibly run better.
