Red Octane is obviously not an equal opportunity employer.
This is so blatantly sexist. _________________

How's it sexist? -_- It puts males in power while at the expense of females? No, I'd say it's the opposite of sexism.
They're just looking for females, jeez. It's probably because there's so many GUY players. _________________

Hah! One time I tried asking Fry's on helping selling more DDR during Winter. They said yes but everything backfired. I got paid with free food and drinks and like about 5 dollars.
Well anyways wow I wanna do this! Still, I do not have any good speaking skills and also I was born with something down in the pants that would not make me qualified. Duuuuurhhh! _________________

They probably already have 2 guys, and they can't find any girls. So shut up about it being sexist. |

First of all, it's great that this hobby can help some people find cash. Also, it's great that Red Octane is taking the time to market the whole dance game concept.
All of that being said, $500 isn't that much money considering the work.
Let's do the math now.
4 weekends in June for 3 days each (Fri-Sun) at 5 hour shifts. That's 60 hours! How many people out there with jobs would be satisfied working 60 hours and only getting paid $500 for it?
So in other words, if you do the math straight up, it's $8.33/hour but then math isn't quite so straight up because there's this thing called overtime pay after 40 hours of work in which case the hourly salary would be time and a half (at least where I work) and so the more realistic hourly wage with this employer is a whopping $7.14/hour. Boo.
I know that this is over the course of an entire month as opposed to the weekly or biweekly pay periods most of us on an hourly wage are subject to and so that should be considered.
Yes, I know that travel and lodging will be provided and it will put your name on the map in the DDR world so that should also be considered, but man, $500 just ain't enough.
Consider that they're looking for the 2 best (and most attractive) female dance game players to be working the crowds to sell this product at the stores around California. Best ones out of all the hundreds of girls out there who are interested. The two of them will probably be reading this and thinking, "Is my month's work for this company and this game, considering the quality and caliber of my "presentation", worth only $500?"
Some will say yes and be picked and that's fine. Some will say no and that's fine also. Most will not get picked and that's also fine. All I'm saying is that these two special ladies should be getting paid much more than the breadcrumbs being thrown their way - not because I said they're worth more than that, but because they ARE worth more than that.
Please keep in mind the very first two sentences of this post, though. |
